Dark Tide Disco 2009 (BSD028)
Originally released in 2007 by Floppy Funk, Dark Tide Disco is now being recalibrated and readied for explosion by San Francisco-based Blipswitch Digital which brings an exciting and eclectic stream of mixes to the table. NYC’s Secret Agent Gel of DubWar fame is up first with a bouncy 2-step/Dubstep hybrid certainly capable of picking up the pace on any dancefloor. Next is a very special remix from free-jazz/minimal/house aficionado Dave Aju who has brought the funk here for real. A sexy bassline mingles with dark voices, groovy beats, and jazzy mallet solos on this unique piece. And then there’s the heavy-hitting High Tide 2009 Mix from Byallo himself. Here he takes his 2007 masterpiece into 2009 territory adding big thick beats, a driving bassline, and a whole new level of energy. Straight-up contagious, do not sleep on this!!

Selector Dub U (Tempa, Hot Flush)-- 4/5
DJ Tomas (Umoja Soundsystem)-- Really like Gel's mix, solid dub-tech w/ nods to early Tempa tunes, nice subdrops & ovreall building elements. I like the energy & instrumentation in Byallo's High Tide mix, a great record to take it from midsession to peaktime.
Habersham (Lobotomy, Komposit)-- Solid release. Loving the dubstep sounds as always from Blipswitch, but my fave here is Aju's rework - always the madman and love the use of live sampling. Excellent thick frequenicies on this one!
Sebastien Herre (Produkt Schallplatten, Archipel)-- I like this a lot. The dubstep remix is great, but I'll also play the Dave Aju and High Tide mix.
Robag Wruhme - Wighnomy Brothers (Kompakt, Resopal, Freude am Tanzen)-- Really nice tracks! My faves are the original and the remix from Dave Aju.
{a}pendics.shuffle (Resopal, Planet-Mu, Adjunct, Mos Ferry)-- Love the Dave Aju mix!
DJ Misjah (ReRun, Midtown, Vezotonik, Sway)-- Full Support.
Xpansul (Ovum, Trapez)-- The original and High Tide remix are great for my sets.
Till Von Sein (Tronic, Underwater)-- Dave's remix is super super good, mama mia!! Will use it in my next podcast.
Chris Fortier (Fade, Bedrock, EQ, Ministry of Sound)-- Love everything Alland does, these remixes are cool too!
Mateo Murphy (Tronic, Underwater)-- Original is my fave.
Riyaz Khan (DIVERSIONS, 105.5FM-Toronto)-- Really diggin' Alland's High Tide 2009 Mix, the track is absolutely massive!
