Class Action Lawsuit vs Foul Play Recs-copyright infringment

Postby annias » Tue Jan 12, 2010 8:27 pm

I am beginning a civil suit against the owner of this label for copyright infringement, I will not discuss the particulars out of respect for the legal process. I respectfully request that those with similar issue contact me via these means to initiate a class action lawsuit.

EDIT: And now for something completely different, here's the voicemail he left me, I can't stop laughing :)

its kind of weird to post a thread on a global forum and say you wont discuss anything. i understand the legal ramifications, just thought it slightly ironic! good luck tho

Just trying to keep things professional, this isn't a personal matter it's legal. I will not slander or liable said label, just looking to resolve the matter in court.

In this light, the label's name is pretty ironic & funny.

Even more so though is that they have releases with titles like "Loyalty Amongst Thieves," and "We Didn't Steal This EP."

Bummed though 'cause I see now that my bro aBz is also in their roster... :(

As has just about every motherfucker making electronic music for the last couple decades. Hell, I've even heard Amens in commercials at this point - if anybody should be required to pay the Winstons some royalties, it's ad agencies.

Wasn't much of a chase, really.

I've had several other artists contact me regarding their tracks also being released without permission and without compensation. I've sent Carmel a cease and desist letter over six months ago, nothing has been done. I've left him a message, and have been more than generous regarding time for him to purchase the rights to the song or pay for the copyright infringement and stop selling the tune.

Nothing.

I will be taking legal action if he doesn't settle this soon, getting tired of waiting. In the meantime I'm satisfied with people knowing that he is a thief, so hopefully no one else wastes any of their life trying to deal with him.
