I am going to try and figure out a short list of what will be needed at the Penthouse (:lol:)level of the pyramid.


Label Management - Communication with all production people, communication with artists in terms of getting final materials for pressing, etc.

Accounting - Someone, trusted by all, to handle the majority of the finances outgoing and incoming

A&R - Someone to communicate with artists new and old about material and releases - to a large extent this very board is A&R

Promotions - people to send out CDs, contact reviewers, shops, etc. Get word on the street

US Shipping Center - person in the US to send out direct orders.

I can do promotions and handling orders on the stateside. I ran an ebay business that had 14,000 positive feedbacks in 2 years, if that says anything about being able to mail stuff out.

And promotions is my real "talent" if you wanna call social engineering a talent

Yessir, I can handle promotions and shipping. Promotions involves networking and getting the word out to the masses. Masses would be buyers, DJ's etc...

and in certain cases, that would include licensing for commercial use, radio play, compilations, etc... of course I couldn't do anything that the artists/label as a whole wouldn't want me to do. Basically I am a mouth piece for the message that the collective wants to put out there. The music speaks for itself, I can be a microphone of sorts in some cases.

And shipping is no issue at all. Orders will go out as they come in, within a day of receipt. We would need to come up with a method for getting orders to me so that I can get them out, or people can order directly through the website and I can receive the orders and make sure they get where they need to go on the stateside.

Those two jobs are really the same. I let people know what I have, and convince them that it's the hottest shit they will ever hear... they buy it. Like a drug dealer, of sorts.

And shipping could be done with an account set up through the USPS, UPS, or whatever Shipping service we choose to use stateside.

i would like to be on the A+R side of things.

with us all been in different cities i think a+r goes for us all--

i find that tracks make there way to me tho and some bloody good ones aswell

I can (or rather we - the OHOI! crew) can help with the following:

* a HUGE list of UK and European contacts.
* studio work (recording/mixing/simple mastering - pro facility)
* promotion (+ distribution) in Denmark (+ Sweden/Norway, maybe)
* music (of course)
* event organising (for +10 years)

i can help out with the domain & web shizzle..

(though im off to thailand for 3wks at the end of this week - a well deserved break believe - so afraid i aint gonna be much help in the immediate future! )

I can vouch for the quality of the mastering here. And a couple of the tracks I've heard were slamming. Definate considerations.

how much time is the main person at the top of the pyramid aiming to have for the label?

full time job?

up to 10hrs a week?

It's a lot of work. You will be making phonecalls, emails, instant messages... calling the plant, calling the artists, emailing the plant and the artists... you will be in contact with the shipping, contact with the next producer...

and if things go the way I wish they would, you might be in contact with yourself

certainly not a full time job. i dont think anyone here has the time for that.

i can send out direct orders from the uk, although if say we're mastering at transmission, might make more sense for the northern crew to be doing that

I already do all the day to day stuff for Goosehound thats been stated by ramadanman, it wont be too much of a stretch to add co-op duties. I already have a system.
