I'm not sure there's a right way to do it to begin with. It's just dumb.
Everyone who was nominated ultimately deserved to be recognized in the end. But what you get in the end are results that are narrow and determined by a miniscule sample of "the scene".
I see nothing "done right" by putting such a
select few on pedestals at the end of the year when there are so many who deserve recognition.
Consider as well that the opinions of 51% can override the opinions of 49% and there are no honorable mentions.
You know? We are all in this together, and I believe we are all for the most part equals (until a suspect popularity contest claims otherwise...)
I say let the music speak for itself and fuck the awards.
Poke a hole right through it.
The time spent organizing the awards would have better been spent compiling an all encompassing "2007 Dubstep Forum Guide to Dubstep".
That would benefit the scene as a whole, as there's a lot more to it than the "Top 3".
