I pinched the Digital Mystikz, Dubstep Warz 2006 and Sonar Special shows off the iPlayer in their glorious original quality (~130kbps AAC) - they sound way better than the satrips. Will share if anyone wants after they disappear off the iPlayer?

(when I said satrips I was referring to previous scene satrips of the dubstep warz shows, they were showing their signal path a bit at times)

Audio ripped from cable, DSAT or DTT still has to go through

1) processing at the BBC
2) transmission to Sky
3) transcoding to MP2 (for Sky platform)
4) decoding by the receiving digibox
5) re-digitisation by your soundcard having been decoded to analogue by the digibox (unless using optical ofc)
6) encoding to MP3


Whereas the AACs from the iPlayer:

1) processing at the BBC
2) encoding directly to AAC on the same platform, by the BBC before upload to the iPlayer - as close to a desk feed as you're going to get!

@synergist: im no scene, i dont need the scene and i dont compare me with that guys. When i say you, that my recordings are without loss, they are without loss, so i dont need to hear your aac file. My one has the same quality in mp3

I'm sure your stuff sounds pucker mate didn't mean to offend so hope no offence was taken! (I've not listened to your own rips yet so I'll compare and see how they sound).

I have found that the BBC's own AAC encodes sound *particularly* good - they have an excellent quality AAC encoder, I actually archive the AAC files for shows because they sound better than the scenerls MP3s.
