Re: Shepard Tone

according to tom cosm: four octaves of slow -12 (or +12) pitch bend. for -12 pitch bend, bottom octave fades out, top octave fades in. pitch bends and volume fades occur over an 8 or 16 measure repeating phrase.

Re: Using a Windows based laptop for Live performance?

I've used a windows based (vista!) laptop for both ableton and serato performances and have been lucky so far.

I'd be more concerned about ableton than serato. I saw a guy do a serato set with a netbook once - serato doesn't use much cpu.

rule #1 can manifest itself in many, many ways. The most common one is DON'T BREAK THE LAW IN PLAIN DAYLIGHT. IE, don't ask/post about cracked software or warez on a public forum, and don't share copyrighted material (most commonly, samples).

Re: Real-time vocal effects processing in ableton?

Thx zapruder, I will try this out soon. My hope is that it doesn't sound too singy sounding...maybe some effects added on would be good. if you talk through it, it should sound like Soundwave from the Transformers animated show from the '80s: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soundwave_(Transformers) if...

i think you can do this with a real time vocal audio signal in track 1 instead of a clip.

Re: Real-time vocal effects processing in ableton?

Put your vocal clip in track 1. Set to loop. Drop in a vocoder with "Formant -5" preset onto track 1. Set up a pad-type synth clip in on track 2. Set to loop. Hit the sidechain button on the vocoder on track 1 (looks like an upsidedown triange). Set the sidechain input drop down box to tak...
