That was cool man, always good to see how other people do things differently (you've inspired me to try out some different ways of doing neuro bass).

Re: Tips on sampling and my progress for starting out?

Unless there's a bit of the song where it's just the bell then it'll be very hard to get rid of the background stuff. You could try having a look around http://www.freesound.org/ for some bell/metallic impact sort of sounds.

Also welcome to the production forum :corndance:

I once made a hip hop tune made entirely from sounds from my mouth (I'm no beatboxer but it was well fun to do).

I love Carbon and Space drone is pretty cool (I haven't used it that much but my housemate last year was getting some sick sounds out of it).

Re: Logic 8 Plugin Delay Comp not working on busses?

Yeah, but it's usually when I add a CPU intensive plug in while the track is playing - a quick start and stop sorts it out for me.

Sounds like you've either detuned the oscillators, maybe have the analogue knob turned up with unison on, possibly the phaser is on?

Re: using basslines in audio question

Here's how I do it: one long note with lotsa processing etc. Load into sampler and then env/LFO to filter cutoff. Copy sampler and then apply different settings for transitions, change how much the filter opens up etc.

Yes it is possible to transform an image into sound http://photosounder.com/.

You can also do this using the gem objects in pure data.

Re: Working/Composing with video

I've done a bit for my course, generally I think it's best to go for simple cuts as most things like cross dissolve or whatever just look naff. That and cutting in time with the music. It's largely about choosing/filming images that compliment the vibe of the music and stringing them together in an ...

Here's a few thoughts: - The most important part is sample selection, if you get this right that's half of the battle won (if you're having problems with any part of your mix don't be afraid to try using different samples/synth patches instead of wasting hours tweaking eqs and moving the faders abou...
