What you need is the lex luger sound kit. Tones of good 808 samples. This and Kid Urban sound kit are great for 808s. Google both of them and I am sure you will get what you are looking for. Peace.

Any one got tips on achieving these sounds? I have tried and go sort of close, but the chord stabs always sound more metallic and dank.

As many people have stated already, just use what you are comfortable with because they are all effectively the same. Any one who says otherwise is just a fan boy/knob head.

Reeses, comb filters, filter sweeps, distortion, compression. Just some ideas.

It depends though. You don't really have to tune things like hats or snares if you don't want to. With some things its just down to preference.

Whitenoise----> distortion----> Eq------> Filter. For crunchy yet crisp whitenoise sweeps.
