Re: The dubstep tips super thread

Mixing into a limiter is bad form imo
If you mix to -6 or -8 as your unity instead of 0 and save the limiting and enhancements for the final stages you'll get much better results than mixing into a limiter

Re: NI Solid Mix Series

Guitar rig is a cpu resource hog

fabfilter has excellent eq with pre/post spectrum analysis
And their compressor and limiters are really good as well

Re: getting that complex glitch style.

if I was a betting man I would say its
lots of micro-edits then slice to midi to say 25-30 slices
then put an arp or an arp rack and tweak
but I'm just guessin :h:

Re: Bass Synthesis !

Alchemy is pretty amazing and you can import your own sounds... often times I will gather sounds from other synths or field recordings to make new sounds
it also has a morph matrix that you can customize to get really good evolving movement

Re: HiHat Squences and Programming

Also in Live you can drop a groove into a blank clip space and it will become a midi clip with notes .
Select all the notes and move them to the note that you hh are on

Re: HiHat Squences and Programming

I use an open hihat and automate the sustain and decay. An open hh with no s or d sounds like a closed hat and you can get all kinds of nuanced variation Another way is drop an impulse into a drumrack cell. Load all the impulse cells with the same sample Make slight adjusts to envelopes parameters f...

Re: Improving Drum Beats?

Here is a Live specific trick Drop an impulse into a drum rack cell Drop in a c major midi scale and a random midi effect so the chain is Random+scale+impulse Now load the cells of impulse with your favorite hats or percussion etc You can either have each cell be different or you can load the same s...

Re: Ableton splitting question

Because there are basically two "zones" or areas. if you right click at the uppermost portion of the clip you will have a different menu than if you right click towards the bottom.

just use a hot key..ctrl-l or whatever it is
