Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread

Seriously there has to be an equalizer vst where you define few "states" of the equalizer, i.e. peak at 500hz and 2000hz, and second one: peak at 700hz and notch at 1300hz. And then you have a slider or knob that when moved, interpolates between those states which can give you easy automa...

Re: how to get that metallic sound like mantis/exude?

Damn, sounds pretty intense. Comb filters will make some very metallic noise, and another option is to layer it with sounds you get running it through a granulizer. If you get the granulizer settings right it can produce those robot/transformer type sounds you hear in Excision and Datsik. On the to...

Look up Diesel and Shekel. Also, I might get hate for this but some of Skrillex's songs are quite complicated.

Re: First song in quite some time! (brostep)

one thing you could definitely do for a quick fix is resample the synths on the buildup, making sure that you cut out all the tail end/reverb. The result is that the buildup won't bleed into the drop, and consequently, the drop will have a lot more power. easy peasy Duly noted. I'm replacing the au...

Re: First song in quite some time! (brostep)

Track is sounding very cluttered, like a lot of the elements are fighting for the same space in the mixdown? Well, that was the first rendering and I didn't put too much effort into mixing. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll be more careful with it. Would you say the fix is just EQing out any stray...

Re: Savant Sound Design

Play around with delays set to the lowest possible time, and comb filters. You'll probably have to make some sounds with these then layer them with more standard wobbles otherwise it will sound too washed out.

First song in quite some time! (brostep)

Soundcloud

Probably the best music I've made yet, after a good 2 year break. Any comments or critique would be awesome.

Re: Not-Sytrus, but sounds like Sytrus

Anything that can generate a sine wave is as capable as any synth. I hear that thrown around a lot, but it simply isn't true. You couldn't do the things you do in sylenth 1 in 3xosc. And you couldn't do the things you can do with massive in sylenth1. And you can't do things in massive that you can ...

Re: I don't get it...

I do lots of resampling and my basslines are arranged by a bunch of audio clips. Each audio clip gets its own channel so there's lots and lots of channels. I route them all to a bus though, so if you count that as one (plus all the drums as just one) I won't have that many. Drum bus, resampled bassl...

Re: whats your guys opinion on layering kicks and snares

alright guys. thats how i was doing it. like i have a punchy kick thats like peaking at 90hz and then a kick that does have some low end punch but i liked the high end click/crunch on it so i high passed it and layered it ontop of the punchy kick. but the end result still isn't as punchy as i want....

Re: free brostep synth for ableton live

I thought brostep was a negative/joking term... I mean I've used it before but only for specifically clarifying that style of dubstep when I'm talking to fans of deep stuff, I didn't think it was a legit genre label. To name a synth after it? Stupidest thing I've ever heard.
