Re: Reckon this is a live instrument recording?
It's probably a VSTi. There are some samplebased VST's which are capable to produce very realistic sounds. Refx Nexus, Steinberg Hypersonic (has been discontinued) or Eastwest Quantum Leap, stuff like that will work. Yes! Thank you. I'll look into Leap, it looks like there are a lot of potential pa...

Disco Demon's intro from 00:00 to 01:05, do you think that was a live recorded piano set? Or is there a VST out there that is capable of producing such a realistic sound?

How to add atmosphere to a track?
OK, I'm still a beginner and a lot of my tracks consist of drums, 1 or 2 basslines and a couple of samples. What are ways I can fill it up? I hear a lot of professional tracks with a lot going on in the back. Are those synthesizer effects?

ok, I just finished watching the Kryptic Minds masterclass and this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1D10pWZTyU&feature=channel_video_title My question is, why do they have so many sets in the session view, when they're obviously working on the arrangement tool? They have no clips in any of the ...

Re: 100bpm
100 BPM is old news. The glitch crew have been repping 100-115 for ages, it's only recently the dubstep people have started moving in that direction. For what it's worth I don't really see the point, why not go the whole hog, jump down to 85 and make some real hip hop y'know. KOAN sound don't sound...

Re: Is everyone cut out for music?
age kind of does matter in a sense. if someone is 16 and someone else is about 21 the older man would have an easier way of learning since his mind is far more developed than the 16 year old. I'd disagree. It just depends on how smart and dedicated the 16 and 21 year olds are. :D You got the quotes...

Oh shit, what happened
I've just started to realize, from strenuous listening, that dubstep is beginning to just be synths. I know, I'm a bit late. I find it hard to even hear drums in common dubstep tracks nowadays, bar the occasional snare sound. So, where do I go from here? D: Actually, I have a question: can any sound...

Doctor P asked if you could please refrain yourself from giving out his secrets to his basslines. You're making Skrillex nervous.

More production master classes?
Hello there chaps, this is my 5th week into dubstep production and it's going great. I currently picked up my first MIDI keyboard and I can safely say adding basslines is so much simpler thanks to it. So much easier to place. I was wondering if there were anymore production master classes I could wa...

Remixing vocal quality
`How do artists edit their vocals when doing remixes? Notably Zed's Dead female vocals, Skrillex's clear quality with a bit of glitch, and female vocals, Nero's clarity and Bare Noizes clarity. What software are they using to make it so crisp, and effected? If there is a tutorial I can see?

Not sure how to explain this, but:

0:24 - 0:28
That sort of increasing automation sound. How do I go about making that?

Goldbaby
Deadmau5 sample pack
Prime Loops
Loopmasters
Tape 808 samples
909 samples
I think that should cover a wide range of samples.

Skrillex uses FM 28 and dblue Glitch. He might also use Operator, since he does use Ableton.

Re: When making a drum beat, do you...
I build the main body of the track first - synth, melody, sample whatever. Then add the drums and bassline around that. Build the drums to the track, not the other way round. Makes perfect sense. But, you'll build your synth? What exactly do you mean o: Kick Hat Snare Hat @ 140 innit, no need for a...
