Re: What all do you guys compress?
Maybe I'm just a compression addict. Do you do anything in place of compression? Like transient shaping or something? Nah the only things I put on my mixer tracks is eq reverb and delay. My drums could definetly be punchier and louder but I don't think they need to be. I've gone through a compressi...

Re: What all do you guys compress?
I don't ever use compression except on my master. If I want my kick louder I just turn everything else down, etc. idk I just never found it super necessary on anything but my master to make it loud.

Re: Getting fat drums without eating your headroom!
AxeD you're fucking retarded and mad. Sidechaining (which is a vague term), and compression DO help your mix. Of course it's not the only answer though. The key to a good mix is the right set of sounds used in a good song. I've had beats that were just missing something. I changed the kick drum samp...

Idea for a production contest
How about a contest where you have a set of sounds/instruments you can use and that's it to make a song? It's a little different than a sample pack contest it's more like a synth and drums contest. For example: You can use a live bass guitar sound, a supersaw, a harmonica, and a clap/kick/808/openha...

Re: jaydot-Axis (deep, dark, minimal)
God that's fucking low. My monitors don't pick up the sub at all lmao. I don't like the harshness of that reverbed synth, EQing would probably help that. Otherwise I think it's really cool. The bass is smooth.
