How can I make a house track like this?

It sounds like a bassline that's being side-chained, and some kind of saw synths playing on top of them? Is that right?

Massive won't load .NMSV files.
I am currently using the latest version of Massive (1.3.0) The problem is, whenever I try to load an NMSV file, I immediately get an error message that says "couldn't open file". I've seen some other people with this exact same problem. Anybody know how to fix this? Some of my NMSV files w...

Re: Getting discouraged with my music..
It's not wasting time if you're happy while you do it. Answer this question for me though: Do you have fun during the actual process of writing music or is it just satisfying for you to make a good track? thanks for your post. I guess, the actual process is fun and rewarding, but I get a lot more p...

Getting discouraged with my music..
I've been producing on and off for about 3 years or so. Over the last few months, I've had absolutely no motivation at all to make music. Mainly because, I've been listening to my latest projects, and I'm incredibly unhappy with the way my music sounds. After three years, I thought I'd be able to at...

Re: Scared about learning to DJ.
Anyway guys, to update this thread.. Basically a few users have suggested some books for me that teach about Digital DJing, so hopefully once I pick up these books and finish reading them, I won't be so scared to start using all the equipment and I'll have a better understanding of what I'll be doing.

Re: Scared about learning to DJ.
Take it one step at the time. Get acquinted with beatmatching first (though kill the bass of one of the songs), which is just using the turntable's pitch and the volume slider. If you've got that, you'll learn the rest pretty quickly Beatmatching? Who beatmatches anymore? I just use Sync... lol jk ...

Re: Scared about learning to DJ.
I just really want to learn as much as I can. I have a huge desire to learn. I want to be one of those guys who you can ask "Hey, what does this knob do?", or, "How does a Reverb work?", and they can explain it to you so well. Some people just know technical stuff like that so n...

Can you all get off my back about that and stop bringing that shit up? I already explained it and I'm done explaining that. I answered that question several times in multiple threads

Re: Scared about learning to DJ.
Ahh, alright. Yes, well, I only know how it affects the sound I'm hearing, not what goes on with the wave technically. Save for a few things I've actually researched and what I can deduce from what I hear. Basic use of EQ: http://www.nodoughmusic.com/hello/making/how-to-eq-your-mix How EQ works No ...

Re: Scared about learning to DJ.
well I learnt everything from trials, never read the manual. Just got around to reading recently to see what I might've missed from exploring it on my own (production). there are many more things and specific knobs that do many different things from filters/oscillators/envelopes/reverbs and so much...

Re: Scared about learning to DJ.
Many DJs use minimal hardware nowadays, some even pre record their mixes on ableton, then on stage practice 'the art of doing nothing'. DJing isn't nearly as hard as producing. And you don't need books there's pretty much all the info you need scattered online. Just do the right research On a side ...

Re: Scared about learning to DJ.
I meant, I want to know how it works well enough to be able to explain it on my own, and so I understand what I'm doing when I'm using an EQ myself.jonahmann wrote:He said has been using EQ, and now wants to know how it works.ehbrums1 wrote:Yes but do you need to know how a computer works on the inside to be able to use one?

Re: Scared about learning to DJ.
I've been a music producer for about 3 years now, but recently I've developed an interest in wanting to learn how to DJ. So, I'd really like to learn how to DJ, but here is the problem. Learning how to use the equipment is the biggest challenge for me. What is the best way to learn how to use a Mix...
