Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
I give brutally honest feedback and would like some in return dansci- I actually hate this kind of music but your song has a lot of cool elements. The main thing I would focus on would be melody, chords, and progression. You have some great bass patches but what really makes a song catchy is chords ...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
cmgoodman- really diggin this. love the bass and snare. maybe bring the pads up in a volume a little bit more? f8fabe- once again this sounds really good and polished. maybe just add more one long bass noise to hit on the down beat every couple bars to switch it up a little? sounds good though you'v...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
f8fabe- interesting sounds you got here. i think it would sound good with a little bit more mid-low bass. something in the 300-500hz range, just to fill out the spectrum a bit. youve got nice sub and hi end, could use just a bit more weight in mid-low end. lightshapers- cool idea, kinda a trap/bass ...

Re: Adding Harmonics to Your Sub Bass.
Maul VST is perfect for this (and a lot of other distortion techniques too). It's a multiband distortion unit so you can pump the lows of a kick/bassline through a tube distortion and then process the mids and highs however you like

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
luke (dg) - wow interesting vibe on this one. can't really think of much constructive criticism, the kick could use a tad bit more low end before the bass drops and the claps could use a bit more reverb- but that's just my ears idk. very cool sound nameless - heavy as fuck, nice. idk i think it coul...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
mistayif- very nice track. good vibes, mix sounds tight. i think maybe you could expand on the chord progression on the intro... maybe change the chords a bit to give it a lil more emotion. really nice though keep up the good work dotcurrency- love the intro melody. perfect sample selection. mix sou...

Re: Help with some turntable setup questions
cause most of what I've read about USB turntables sounds like there are some quality issues with them. If I'm gonna drop a lot of money on a table I want the best sound ya knowehbrums1 wrote:If you're using it for sampling why are you avoiding a USB TT?

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
@Chad damn it goes hard. The mix is pretty good, I would boost the volume of the hats just a lil to get it grooving a little bit more. I would also shift everything (melody, 808 bass) down a semitone or two after every 4 bars to give it that evil kinda vibe you know. Nice work though on a lighter no...

Re: Whats in store for 2014 #BoldPredictions
Predictions, eh? Was reading some article (maybe on NPR?) the other day which was talking about trends in music dating centuries back. Throughout history, younger people have always been into high energy music. This isn't a fad but often high energy music manifests as trendy/fad music. I see the hig...

Help with some turntable setup questions
Hey I am looking into buying a new turntable to sample some vinyl records into Ableton. My set up is currently a MacBook Pro connected to a FocusRite Scarlett 2i4 which is connected to my VXT6 monitors. My question is how would I connect a turntable so that I could both 1. listen to records through ...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
Cheeky – love the vibe of this first off. Not really feeling the out of key sounding bassline mixed with the vocals but after the drop it’s awesome. Maybe there’s a different melody you could play for the bass before the drop. Very fuckin cool though I like this track a lot. Good work. Clutchkick- h...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
Cmgoodman – really like this style, the sub hits nice and smooth. Interesting vocal samples. One area for improvement might be in some drum pattern variations to switch things up every few bars. Maybe like a drum fill with a new percussion sample to give each group of 2 or 4 bars a finishing touch. ...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
alexander - pretty interesting sounds, i would maybe like a little more in the melody department to make it a little catchier zoso- love this style but its definitely too on beat for dilla :P groovy though i like it a lot. i would maybe add a little variation to the bassline to give it more groove k...

Re: Raw talent vs potential etc
well i have 0 raw talent so everything is hard work for me. i have never played an instrument and i can barely dance without making a fool of myself. but production is the first thing in my life where i couldn't master it within a few months. so i keep coming back to it. i hope i never feel like i'v...
