Re: Connecting Numark DM2050 3 Channel Mixer to Virtual DJ
I don't think numark makes a control surface that is compatible with the Virtual DJ software. i don't know if anyone does. afaik vDj is kind of just a toy. you would need to route actual decks, be they cdj's or turntables, into that mixer. You can use virtual dj with out a control surface, but your...

Re: Connecting Numark DM2050 3 Channel Mixer to Virtual DJ
You need a sound car with at least 2 stereo outputs, 3 if you want to use all 3 mixing channels, or 4 if you want to use the cue on your mixer. And then depending on the sound card you get you either want rca cables(red and white) or TRS (quarter inch guitar plugs).

Not sure which desk he has but it is pretty sick. Found this one on sweetwater for 175 http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/WS7500RB/ Lets you have your monitors and display on the top shelve, your audio stuff on the desk, and you keyboard tucked away underneath. The upper shelve does look like it...

Sampling each note and running it through a spectrum analyzer might work, if the notes peak enough in the analyzer

Re: Bass Phrasing / pattern production / 32 bare bassline
Try adding some notes that are outside of the scale with some half steps up or down. Short chromatic scale(every note) runs can sound good too.

Re: Housestep SubBass?
Can we focus less on the terminology here? No point turning every other thread into a semantic argument  No no no no no no no... we're are going to get into a semantic argument right now. "Housestep" doesn't exist, it's literally a contradiction because house and dubstep are musics ...

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
I would say its worth it, I was using it in the demo and I fell in love with it. I didn't buy the full suite but now Im thinking about it with this sale. If your going to put down the $100 for sampler its worth another 100 for operator and the rest of the suite imo. Also if you have a second compute...

Re: Explosive/rev type synthesis question. please help!
keep experimenting, there's so many different ways to get movement like that. Even if someone walked you step by step through how to recreate that sound you still wont have a grasp of how to take that idea in your head and put it into a song. The only way to do that is through experience and that co...

Re: Housestep SubBass?
In ableton I usually put a sidechained filter on the kicks so when there's no sub bass they hit low, but when the sub is playing the get highpassed around 90hz

Re: Making Sub Bass When Your Monitors/Headphones Only Go So
The people talking about subs up to 100hz... In my personal opinion that kind of shiz is a no-no. First and foremost that is bang on the frequency you want your kicks at, a deep chest shaking thud. Secondly on a good system, the deep sub's (at about 40-50odd hz) in where your looking to be for a so...

Re: How to change the speed of the LFO during one note?
you can automate it but honestly the easiest way is probably sampling the audio output of massive at different lfo speeds. Then arranging the audio clips where you want them to be. This also lets you add different effects to each audio clip, since you probably want that long "warb" to be a...
