Dunno about dubstep, will have a think about it, but in drum n bass its gotta be "ed rush, fierce an optical- alien girl" for me :D Indeed, that is a seriously good snare. I noticed, while at JMT last night, that the snare in Wu Tang Clan Ain't Nothin Ta Fuck Wit, when played on a decent ...

Re: Make an 80s synth with Massive?

sounds like an albino preset to me. And more 70s prog rock than 80s (the decade of the DX7, innit). In general, you'd be better off with a decent virtual analogue than Massive, although if you must insist, then call up two saw waves, detune them, set an LFO to their pitches and modulate the LFO amou...

Just looking at that lineup makes me wish I was still in Exeter. Didn't do fuck all on NYE, and worshipping Arkist ATM.

Ok, the mix is nice too.

Re: REASON 5 PRODUCTION HELP THREAD.

Does ANYONE else out there use Reason at all? I've tried so hard making tunes in it for the past 9 months, but every bass patch I make sounds like absolute shit. I can't even switch back to another DAW because Reason's envelopes and parameter automation function is easier to use that other DAW's, b...

HEY!! was the JOY ORBISON LANA DEL REY REMIX officially released? I'm dying for it right now. THANKS. http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/video-games-joy-orbison-remix/id486743132 Lana Del Rey and Joy Orbison may add up to an unstoppable vortex of shoreditch friendliness, but it's a boss tune anyway.

Re: Whats the easiest and Best Program to use to make Dubste

Learning to make music isn't easy on any DAW, it takes a lot of patience. This. If you're not in it for the long haul, spend that £300+ on beer like a sensible person. The more intuitive packages out there to my mind are Reason, FL Studio and Ableton. But they're intuitive in very different ways - ...

Re: drums question

Not sure that's right. Lots of good samples floating around... The exact answer to your question depends on what you want your kick and snare to sound like, and what sort of mix you're trying to fit it into. The basics: a kick has two components, which are the transient - if you imagine an actual ba...

Didn't see anyone post this one:

EDIT: Also, this one is traditionally pigeonholed as minimal/microhouse, but put it up to +8 and it's basically garagetastic.

many of them have extremely similar drum patterns, not feeling, hope it dies. As opposed to the enormous variety of drum patterns available in the dungeon sound? Re: sub bass click

In this instance its likely to do with the release on the AMP envelope, especially if he's using Massive. Common mistake is to ignore the AMP envelope (its envelope number 4 by default), on the init patch the attack and release both produce clicks so they both need adjusting. But yeah if you're wor...

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on Urban Ethics. Maybe he could have not used exactly the same bass-mid patch on 4 different tracks, but there's some good stuff on it regardless.

Re: coki haters

Sometimes I feel that if some alien race is first exposed to human culture through DSF, they will come away with the impression that the foulest swearword in the English language is 'midrange'. Coki's stuff is cool. I like his more straight reggae-ish tunes, and I like the fact that his wobbly ones ...

Re: What is your DAW missing?

per-clip volume envelopes and stuff would be nice in FL, especially now they're ditching the old pattern block view and more and more shit has to be done in the sequencer track view bit.
