Re: Production Environment?
Yeah man totally. I don't like other people in the studio, I don't like making beats on other people's setups and I certainly never made a proper "£10 Bag" beat when I was at college. State of mind and environment are crucial factors when making music! edit: also, I recently set up all my...

Re: Production Environment?
yeah i know what you mean man, i went to production school about 10 years ago, and all it did was make it seem like a chore so much that i stopped altogether and didn't even start getting motivated to produce properly again until about 6 years later. I find i like working on music best when i've go...

Production Environment?
I've been at college studying music tech now for 2 years out of a total of 3 I'll be doing. I find it really hard to get motivated to produce when I'm at college and find that I can only be inspired when I'm at home with a drink, in the warm and comfortable. Do any of you find that you can only prod...

Re: Why can't I finish tunes?
thanks for all the feedback! I really like your idea lloydy about creating varied bass sounds. Its not that I don't know how to structure the song it just feels like im being too repetetive. And then when I don't know where to go next I feel like curling up in a ball to cry like you said. I then ju...

Re: Why can't I finish tunes?
I've literally just come out of this. Here's my story (lol). I was using Reason 5 for at least 2 years with Logic Pro as software I only really used at college. Anyway, recently I came into some money due to a situation and I bought myself a MacBook. I was really excited to start using Logic and mak...

Re: You might just recognise this sample...
Anyone else considering getting a pimp outfit and some steel drums now? Rip-offs like this are lame, but it's so common (and to be fair some good music is made) that it's hard to get too upset about it. I just hope they are well credited for writing 99% of the new tune. New version is still a good ...

You might just recognise this sample...
I really don't see what Duck Sauce did with this track when they sampled it. Seems they just chopped out 2 parts, looped them, new drums and one of their own vocals...
But anyway, an interesting find...

Re: Automating Bitcrusher on Logic?
I don't like Logic's BitCrusher too much, only thing with pops you could try is noise gating but don't know how effective that would be?

I know Skrillex does, said in a video something about "for my genre all I need is my headphones and my laptop" but yeah, most of the time I do. Macbook Pro 13", Audio Technica ATH M50, Alchemy, All 3 of the other CamelAudio plug-ins, Razor, Effectrix and I'm good to go :) oh, and Log...

Re: Layering a sub, help.
Try harmonising significant changes in the notes/pitch. Might actually sound better, you don't necessarily want the sub to sound arpeggiated, might overcomplicate things :P This is probably the worst idea too, but try adding a sine oscillator to your synth and detune it so it harmonises on a lower ...

I have USB monitors, there's absolutely nothing wrong with them aslong as you're in a big enough room with sufficient acoustic treatment like any other monitors. TBH tho, I always use headphones now
