Re: Outboard mixer uses & benefits?
Just thought actually, i would be converting the sound from digital, to analog then back to digital therefor reducing the sound quality, skipping the mixer would keep the signal chain in digital.

Haha thats what i'm saying! Didn't know whether or not it would come with any benefits or disadvantages like the mixer effecting audio quality from the interface?

Outboard mixer uses & benefits?
Hey all, i'm currently in the process off replacing my Motu interface with a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40. Wondering if its worth buying a small outboard mixer to go with it. Just wondering what benefits i would get with it if any? I'm planning on just using it as a more off a volume control as anything...

Re: Liquid Mix Firewire/USB Issue. (Number Of Ports)
Would you think that running an interface through a hub would be a good idea? Surely it would slow the audio signal down?

Re: Liquid Mix Firewire/USB Issue. (Number Of Ports)
Technically there is no such thing as firewire to USB. USB can only be as fast as USB, not firewire. So it's not going to be fast enough for some devices. There are adapters that you can buy that will convert the signal, such as this : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Firewire-1394-6-Pin-Female-to-USB-Mal...

Re: Difference between a Portable Recorder & a Microphone?
Cheers for the reponses! I guess it wouldn't be great for close mic'ing a drum kit. It's always been find at recording ambient noises and field recordings however. I guess it depends on what you're recording anyhow.

Difference between a Portable Recorder & a Microphone?
I currently own a Zoom H1 Portable Recorder and wondered if that it would be adequate for recording percussion sounds, or would a mid range condenser be better suited? Is there any difference between a portable recorder and microphone in terms of quality? Not been able to find much out online about ...

Cheers for the responses guys, has anyone heard about using T-Pins to mount foam to the wall? I'm guessing that Velco tape stuff wouldn't attach to foam.

Re: Absolute BEST Professional Sample Packs???
For drums you can use really any sample pack as long as they sound good to you. As for what the 'Pros' use some will sample drums from other obscure tracks or make/record their own. Personally i'd stay away from Sample Pack buy Loopmasters as everybody uses them.
