Re: Use your student discounts!
are these deals you find on the internet? or should i be talking to people at my school about these discounts? i never even thought of that! Email their customer support. They will ask for some identification that you are a student. One asked for a transcript, which all I had to do was show some co...

Re: Frustration.....
Take a break, it will still be there when you return. I stopped writing for a couple of months and then came back with a fury, I've almost finished my second original track and I'm quite proud of both of them. Before that I had only done remixed of video game tracks I enjoy. One way I like to produc...

Use your student discounts!
I thought I'd make a thread sharing my experiences with this, as plugins can be very expensive and I've never seen this topic discussed. If your a student in college (possibly grade school applies), you can get some huge discounts on plugins if you just look for them. I was able to get the OhmForce ...

Re: [VIDEO] Tom DeMac makes a track in 10mins
Ableton Push is pretty neat, though my iPad hooked up to ableton using lemur and Live Control 2 has more functionality, but it was definitely a pain to get working properly. Definitely a lot faster than I am at writing tracks, i really should focus on getting the entire structure of something first....

Re: Mixdown help - volume progression
Great stuff guys! I've been doing some if this, such as referencing my tracks on my car stereo, iPod headphones, etc. however, I have not been using volume automation probably as much as I should. I've mostly just used it sometimes for build ups but never for pulling a static instrument back to allow...

Deep Saw Bass Sound
I need some help with my understanding of this type of sound. I've been trying to reproduce it as I feel it would be awesome to include in a production, but I can't seem to get it right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3I4cfOd-ZgU The sound in question is at 1:07, and 1:13 It is heard throughout the ...

Mixdown help - volume progression
With many of the tracks I have mixed so far, I'm noticing the amplitude on the finished track is often all over the place, even though I feel like I'm mixing it properly. Sometimes with added effects, I find my buildup is louder than my drop, or the entire mix seems to be one consistent amplitude al...

Re: Pulling the trigger on some studio monitors. Help!
now get rid of the foam stands and get isoacoustics, it's a MAJOR upgrade The foam came with the speakers, I also have some auralex Mopads in my closet but I figured I would use what they gave me since its just the right size. After I move, I plan to get some actual speaker stands and no have the s...

Re: Pulling the trigger on some studio monitors. Help!
Dude, I'd pick up a pair but I'm afraid those blue lazer beams would burn a hole into my soul. They only burn a hole into your soul so they can put you in touch with the true frequencies of your music. And Nowaysj, dude, living in the States one has no excuse not to own a pair of Equator Ds. They a...

Re: Pulling the trigger on some studio monitors. Help!
got the Equator D8's a few hours ago, and HOLY CRAP, I instantly made a huge leap in doing mixdowns. It's taking some time to break them in but I went back and listened to some of my older tracks that I made like 6 months ago and I can see glaring problems with them and knew exactly how to remedy th...

Re: Beginner Tip for Sound Design
You will get the best results by getting the sound right at the source, before it goes to processing. Complex wave forms sound good if you know your synth, using basic waveforms will only limit what you can do with the sound. I'm not saying you can't use complex waveforms, but many of the most inte...

Re: Beginner Tip for Sound Design
Thanks for the advice. I'm looking forward to seeing some replies to this thread. My drums sound ok but I really need to improve my synthesis techniques. Sorry about the late response, I totally forgot I had made this thread! Anyway, I notice you have feed me's logo in your avatar. From listening t...

the stereo image is so good you'll want to reach out and touch it :) enjoy and post your thoughts, i have the d5's and want to upgrade to 8's when i can afford some more room treatment I may do a YouTube review for them. Hardly many reviews out there for the D8's, I assume it's because they are qui...

Re: Pulling the trigger on some studio monitors. Help!
can only personally put my stamp of approval on the KRK rokit range of monitors.. i have a pair of the 8" ones and i love them regardless of the rooms ive lived in. ive HEARD that the unique design in the tweeters that adam have in their monitors can cause issues in producing electronic music....

Pulling the trigger on some studio monitors. Help!
I've decided to put some investing into my studio. I've been producing for about 2 years, you can see some of the examples of my work in my signature. Currently I've just been doing some heavy melodic remixes of some game songs that I really like, but I'm working on original content with the same vi...

Re: Does anyone else do this?
I hate Ableton's automation, especially when I'm using massive. The automation for changing the LFO rate is especially awkward and annoying. So instead, I use the LFO as an envelope, and use lots of short notes. That way I don't have to deal with automation bullshit or have a million instances of o...

Nevs - Darkness of the Unknown (Remix)(I guess its Dubstep?)
https://soundcloud.com/tehnevs/darkness-of-the-unknown-2 This is now my 5th completed track, I feel I've improved greatly on my mixdowns, but I'm wondering how the track and mixes could be improved? I don't have the best setup for doing mixdowns so I have to reference on several other mediums befor...

Beginner Tip for Sound Design
I wanted to shed some light on a technique I've been using for practicing that I feel may benefit a lot of beginners who are trying to work on design sounds. For reference, here is my latest track, I've been doing remixes of game music with a Dubstep feel to them, I really don't know how to classify...

Re: Studio Upgrade Help/Advice (with Pictures)
Whatever speakers you get I'd move that trash can and get your desk further out from the wall and further away from that corner. Especially if you are upgrading to 8 inch monitors. You are going to have all kinds of bass problems ;p It seems from hat picture you have lots of space to play with. You...

Re: Studio Upgrade Help/Advice
I want to get those cheap AV 40s because I'm producing with headphones atm. :P Cool tracks tho. :D I find my PC gaming headset gives me better mix downs than the AV40s. So I'd recommend you save your money and get decent monitors, glad you like my tunes btw! :P the problem with the av40s is that it...
