Re: Skream and Authenticity

Care to share for the FB-phobic? So I'm getting alot of stick because of my Ray Ban x Boiler Room set..... 1. I know its an awful mix. 2. Yes I was clearly smashed. 3.I've apologized already for what happened. People judging for that can do so, I've proved I can DJ too many times. If you wanna say ...

what is your work speed?

How long do most of your songs take you? How many songs do you make per week? Per month? Per year? Of the projects you start, how many of them do you finish? I generally make about one song per week, and I finish all of them. I make it a point to have only one project going at a time. I think it mak...

Re: free synths, or Massive, or...?

Presets can be helpful, but you aren't really gonna find presets for "dubstep" sounds. Synths are not genre-specific . Wobbleboss might have a couple sounds, but some day (pretty soon), you're gonna want to either alter them or make your own original sounds, and you're gonna feel ripped of...

Re: free synths, or Massive, or...?

you might want to read over the rules of this site before you say anything more. from what I interpreted, we can talk about "file-sharing culture" or whatever, but we can't post links. massive costs 200 if you actually buy it from native instruments --> http://www.native-instruments.com/en...

Re: Importing komplete ultimate to garage band

Fwiw, Ableton is easily the most convoluted interface out of all the DAWs I've tried. I agree Reaper is daunting when coming from different software that's conditioned you to think in a certain way. Changing DAWs is always a hassle. But since OP is brand new, he won't have to unlearn any habits whe...

Re: Importing komplete ultimate to garage band

Reaper is daunting when you first open it (and I opened it after prior experience with other DAWs). If you look into reaper, do not freak out that you can't do jack at first and give up immediately. I could see that happening. Be patient, give it some time. Watch some tutorials. If Reaper is just no...

Re: getting that FAT mix

I have recently been using Ableton's "mixing and mastering" audio effect rack presets. there is usually an EQ (subtly boosting highs and lows), some light compression (low threshold, ratio of about 1.5), a saturator (I've found it best to use this lightly - dry/wet around 20-25%), and a li...

Re: Importing komplete ultimate to garage band

in all honestly you shouldn't waste one of those installations on garageband. if you paid nearly a thousand bucks for komplete as a beginner, then you should be able to afford one of the stripped down versions of a decent DAW that supports VST. Logic express, Ableton intro/standard, Reaper, etc etc ...

Re: Finding your identity as a producer.

exactly, a year in real terms is nothing and I'd be careful not to mistake lack of identity for diversity, without causing offense 'Kill the Noise, Disprove, xKore, Flux Pavillion, Koan Sound, FuntCase' these guys make very very similar music, maybe you mean identity as in Burial and Kahn who no ma...

ways to sidechain in Ableton 9 BESIDES COMPRESSION

Hello. Newly registered, but not new to producing or to reading this forum. I've used sidechaining with Ableton's compressor for a while now, and I've also experimented with the sidechain function on Ableton's autofilter. Now I have read on here many times people saying how producers forget that you...

Does anyone use dual monitors in Ableton? Is it possible? I imagine it would greatly speed up your workflow and I would like to look into this.
