Try this instead: Create a great drum part and THEN create your killer sound to fit the drums.

You place lfotool on the track you want the compression on, then on the instrument you want to reference from, (like a kick), tell the channel you want it to listen to the compressed track by going to audio out to that channel. OR, you can just create a effects bus and reference that.
