Who is innovating right now....
There is often threads on here focusing on the negatives of ***step becoming formulaic....(everything is dubby, everything is halfstep, everything is wobble)...etc..... Of course we can all observe trends and the reasons for this are quite obvious (and well debated!)... So interesting to see origina...

The Nu-Dubstep title was tongue in cheek. More referring to the indie crossover stuff than the new wave of diverse and talented producers. So what if more and more are picking up on the sound? alot of people seem to be uptight at the fact that dubstep isnt some cosy little thing they can hide from e...

Pete, I think that you have made a key point that all scenes have one label with a monopoly... DUbstep is infiltrating indie clubs but it is not ALL dubstep it is just one sound. The diversity is getting lost under one tag. I think that Bass music (hardcore to jungle to dnb to garage to grime to bas...

Re: Nu-Dubstep
and i think that we are witnessing the birth of summin interesting here :) EXACTLY. New sounds are emerging. Exciting cross pollinations of sounds from all over. It is an exciting time and if you use the continuim idea then yes we are entering into a new stage with lots and lots of new sounds from ...

Okay i meant that a ragga stab was sample of choice for people discovering the genre and buying a dubstep samplepack. I'm not hating on Nu-ravers coming into the scene they have just as much right to dance as anyone. I'm not hating on the direction Tempa are taking things. They may genuinly like the...

Man I hate it when misinformed brehs make decsions about what the scene 'needs' to do. but by definition the name DUBstep means that a ragga stab/vocal is the sample of choice. Wrong. By definition (and the point of the name) is that it was dub version of tracks, ie: no vocals. The dub/reggae is ta...

I think there is plenty of action by individuals. Labels e.g Rottun are pushing the sound with mixes and releases. Artists and crews are battering the outsider radio station with new dubs without a quarter of the recognition of the Rinse crew. Prodcuers are making bare tracks which on the whole mana...

Did you not understand? I said that loads of people are creating diverse stuff but it is swamped by expectation of what dubstep SHOULD sound like by a misinformed public which is growing due to the crossover appeal of a section of the sound. Hence the newer and heavier tracks (check the dubs section...

Nu-Dubstep
The sound is now crossing over. I've just read the Rusko and Caspa article in the metro and it highlights the new trends in dubstep's commercial sound. The Klaxon's turning up to FWD along with a host of Nu-Rave kids... Skins using dubstep for their teenage parties... Skream remixing the Klaxons... ...
