Re: Any thoughts on tube amps?
I happen to have that same preamp, which I bought from Musicians Friend! Go Figure!! For $30, I thought, what the fuck, I'll give it a go. I use it for house/techno to tunes to run the kick/sub through to try and warm up my kicks as they were coming off a little cold. I a/b'd the two and there was d...

Re: Hardware Synth Advice...
If your looking for leads and raw bass, get a Mopho. It's mono, but that doesn't matter with bass. You have to scroll a bunch of menus as there's not a ton of knobs. Either way, it's a nice analogue synth. It's cheaper than a controller and massive. There's a full knob version coming out too. It all...

I used to be a minor like a mofo. Lately, I've been loving d and f minor. Especially f. I just go right to it.

Re: Changing production values.
Yes and know. Chemical Brothers "Dig Your Own Hole" is from 97 and is as sonically massive as anything coming out today and in most cases more than. Same with Goldie's albums. I was listening to "Saturnz Return" last night and it didn't seem lacking at all. Alot of older tunes I ...

Re: Audio Gear Wet Dreams
I could list about a million pieces. Aside from raw ass tube preamps and old analog console's, here's a few synth's I'd love to have but never will: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/oct04/images/omega2.l.jpg http://www.otheroom.com/namm06/images/techno/metasonix.jpg http://www.analoguehaven.com/moog/...

Re: Question about DJing
I buy 320's. If I'm paying a buck extra or whatever it is for a wav, I might as well buy it on wax. That's my take on it. 320's sound good to me. Then again, I've never done a side by side with a wav and a 320 of the same tune.

Why not use Logic's bitcrusher? That's one of the best processors Logic has.

Re: Field recorders?
I have a Tascam DR-07 and I paid $199.99 for it. They're at $149.99 now though. It records 24 bit wav's and it crystal fucking clear. I was blown away by the clarity of this thing. Seriously. Don't feel like you gotta drop a load of cash to get high quality recordings. It uses AA's but you could jus...

Re: DSI MoPho... anyone got 1? banks/presets?
I have a mopho and I love it! I usually just start with the basic patch and build a new one everytime. That software editor is kinda fucked though. It seems like it has a problems with patches I made (does presets fine). So I just edit by hand now. It's kind of a bitch, but it works. So, no patches ...

How about any video game ever? Just audition some games and hunt for samples as opposed to seeing what everyone else is doing or what game has the best bleep sounds. Just sayin'.

Re: freeware mac plugin like live 7's tension?
Lounge Lizard is the best in my opinion, but still miles from something real. I'll a/b a lounge lizard with a doors tune or some shit and there's no comparison. Then again, the console, preamps, shit like that has a lot to do with their sound. Fm8 is a plinky sounding making monster. Or, record your...

Focusrite makes decent products for well under $500 sterling. The ART Firewire interface looks very interesting too.

Re: Crate Digging
Crate digging is essential. I've been doing it since day one. It doesn't necessarily have to be vinyl, but used record stores are going to have things on vinyl that are simply not available on cd. Plus, you get some nice grit on your sample with wax. People that rely on sample packs and bullshit are...
