Re: Snares and Eq

yo, I was wondering is there any way you can cut a frequency off at a certain point eliminating the higher frequencies without a curve in the EQ line? I mean like, could you cut it off directly at a certain frequency so that the EQ line goes directly vertical instead of tapering off diagonally? pea...

Re: Snares and Eq

fucking production forum. every snare sample is different, so people telling you to boost or cut certain frequencies are wrong, you could just end up making muddy sounding snares. use a graphic/spectrum equalizer, and boost wherever it looks like its hitting particularly hard, and cut out the freqs ...

Re: Using drum loops in a production

if you want to maintain the groove of the loop then just use careful eqing. use an EQ with spectrum analysis and spike the frequencies of the kick, snare, and hat, so you dont muddy everything up. this is what i tend to do if a use a drum loop. or if you dont care so much of the groove or rhythm of ...

Re: How important do you think it is to stay in key?

but those chords arent accidental free in every key so that is deceiving to OP A Csus2 chord has no accidentals in the key sig C. A Dsus2 chord has no accidentals in the key sig D. A Esus2 chord has no accidentals in the key sig E. What is so deceiving about it? You saying that you can "pretty...

Re: How important do you think it is to stay in key?

for centuries composers have been using notes outside of the written key signature, they're called "accidentals" (though using them is certianly no accident) and without them youd pretty much be stuck with major and minor triads. Bold part is false. that's why I said "pretty m...

Re: "distant" hiphop kick sounds

imo more than just a bit a of reverb on a kick is too much. ends up sounding hollow and boomy. like others have said its probably from a sample pack, doesnt really sound like multiple layers at all. and layering kicks is retarded i hope no one does that.

Re: new soundcloud hate

everything is too big and bulky and takes up too much space, also fuck the "who to follow" section, so far it's just been gay indie rock bands and pop singers, just now it listed Usher.

Re: What are you worst at?

Interesting stuff, but i can't help thinking it'd be easier to do an internet mp3 search as opposed to walking around stores in pink trousers looking for obscure records. Surely all this stuff is available online? 1. vinyl sampled to .wav is going to sound better than an .mp3 2. no, lots of music t...
