Thanks mate. Deffinatly need to add a touch of verb and adjust the velocities of the hats I recon!
I produce on headphones and after listening through my mates system it sounds as though the vocals are a little to loud. Can someone with studio monitors give me some feedback on levels please? Thanks

Hand held mic
Hey, so basically next pay day I want to buy some sort of portable mic kinda like the ones reporters use to start recording my own samples from natural environments and I was wondering if any of you have any recommendations?
I'm not very clued up on mics so any help will be appreciated thanks

Re: obZen - Catch me ( Dark, Minimal )
Cheers mate do you mean try cutting some of the lower frequencies to give it a more distant eery feel? If you want a 320 let me know man

Re: Alien
I would hardly consider saying you really don't like a track as constructive, if everyone else posting posts for the same reason a me it is to gain critisism on the production itself for instance sub bass being to loud etc. I would also disagree about being a mod is irrelevant, I used to browse thes...

Thanks for the feedback mate! Yeah I completely agree about the hats now you mentioned it. I'll sort that tomoro with a fresh pair of ears.
So you think I should lose the vocals completely? I personally like the vocals lol

Re: Dubject- Slate (Dubstep/Datsik style)
hey mate. The Eminem vocals seem way to loud to me and when the mid range bass kicks in the vocals dont seem to flow your snare is too loud and i can clearly hear that you have two different snares layered and i dont feel they fit particularly the tinny one that sounds like its hitting a metal can l...

Re: Alien
Not really a whole lot I like about this tbh. There was no need to say that was there, especially coming from a mod. Anyway, it sounds like your using a Midi keyboard to input your notes, try " quantising " them afterwards to put them all in time because i noticed towards the end of the t...

Re: Dark Monkey - Gastly
personally i would go for a harder hitting snare to cut through the thick sub bass. Also make the snare mono to help it maintain a punch because it seems to be panned far to the right. I would make your percussion louder and add slight high passed reverb to give them a shimmer. Im liking the sound o...

Re: D-nasty- Dynasty (ft. Ciara) (dubstep/dance hybrid)
the guys above me are correct. if i was you i would turn everything down and start building your dynamics again from scratch, you know have some things quieter then others it would add more flow to the track and would be more pleasant on the ears because atm it sounds like everything is pumped up to...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@BudSpencertron - Loving the sounds man but it sounds to me like the vocals are fighting the bass for space in the mix but overall awesome work mate. @Sydious - sounding good, think your drums could be made ALOT punchier though try laying another snare that hits at the lower frequencies around 200hz...

Re: want to make more music? say hello to your enemy perfect
It’s great to strive towards the perfection that the voice in your head tells you about, but the reality is you will never get there. Never. Pussy talk. I recommend not reading this article, and instead, looking at this picture for the next 3 hours, while listening to Rocky IV training montages: ht...

Finally, if you're new to 'realstep' ( ;-) ), then I'd heartily recommend watching the documentary Living Inside The Speaker, which focuses on the Bristol scene circa 2006. Re: Tight Thick Phat Squarey Bass
i do not think it is that complicated. i mean it is zedd but I doubt he is splitting the frequencies just to distort the midrange. probably all done within massive. but then again I am not sure that is just my idea. he could be using izotope trash it allows your to distort a select frequence range ...
