the term dj was coined before beatmixing existed..therefore the bug does dj well if you like his tunes So what you are saying then is that we might as well just ignore the evolution of the art in its entirety, and focus on just playing songs, stopping them, and playing the next song, and that is ju...

Its completely ironic when someone gets booked for doing one thing on the basis of being able to do something else that is completely different, and not on the basis of being able to do what it is they are being booked for. People dance at clubs alot more when a DJ is able to read a crowd, determine...

Its ironic because its not the DJ skills getting you booked as a DJ, but the production skills. Alot of people will pay to see you clang it for hours on end because you cranked out some good tracks.

The electronic music world is full of high level producers who have below average DJ skills. The irony here is that the production is what gets you booked as a DJ nowdays, and if you are cranking out high quality dubs, you will then be presented with the oppertunity to trainwreck for two hours at a ...

The new Acid Pro uses the NI time stretch algorithm "elastique" which is super accurate. You can change it back to classic to get that robotic feel if thats what you are going for.

since when is mixing/beat matching records=being a DJ? Think about where the 'DJ' came from. or just google it! When the collective mind snaps to the music changes every minute or two, its hard to create or maintain a vibe. When your mind no longer snaps to the changes in the music due to constant ...

re-sampling implies re-encoding, which implies loss of accuracy of representation of an analog sound by a digital file, unless of course you are using a lossless codec.

Haters gonna hate no matter how hard a sound is to make.

If people used up all the time and energy they normally use hating to crank out dubs instead, we would have a bunch of dope ass tracks to play.

I am a lover of irony. I see alot of griping on the forum that artists sound the same on every track, they use the same sounds, they arent changing it up enough etc. Then when an artist does change it up, people are STILL not satisfied, thinking the old stuff is better. Be careful what you ask for. ...

No signature style. And it has been as much of a liability as an asset. I have made everything from crazy dark drum and bass to deep jazzy house. Its hard to market an album or put a few songs together as a promo when none of it sounds the same or has similar elements. Thank god for individual MP3 r...

the hardest thing about production is treating it like an instrument. you wouldn't record every single phrase you jammed with on your guitar right? sometimes you just gotta forget about recording/saving/sequencing and just dick around. In a recording studio, many times the take that is used is the ...

Same thing happened where I live here in Madison WI. Someone had their car pulled into the street with a bumping system in it and people were dancing all through the night.

In America we have permits for this sort of thing on public land or in a venue that usually wouldnt have a party.

I am not sure what type of system they have in other parts of the world.

Sound complaints are always an issue on private land.
