Yeah, and that's what makes you as unqualified to debate it. I'm glad we agree.magma wrote:I don't give a shit about Sharia Law either.

Re: Ninja Economics
It seems to almost willfully ignore the fact that an economy at its most fundamental is made up of human beings rather than computers and as such, will ALWAYS be slightly illogical and imperfect.. Nope, that's what Austrian school economics is based on. And perfect central economic planning can't t...

Re: Ninja Economics
i was actually careful not to ignore that fact, and it doesn't negate my point. like muncey said it's "Just like blaming poor government actions doesn't imply you think we live in a completely central planned authoritarian state. You can put blame on aspects without presupposing what the whole...

The major players wouldn't have been able to make the investments they made (with their clients' money) had it not been for the central bank's artificially low interest rates on the loans.

Re: Ninja Economics
As for the federal reserve act, it was a global crisis. Different countries were effected in different ways and different degress and for different reasons. The actual crisis was caused mostly by an unregulated and relatively free market financial sector. Icelandic banks operated under the assumpti...

Re: Ninja Economics
People blame the free market for current economic crisis. Blaming the free market or free market operations on the current crisis doesn't mean you believe we live in a completely unregulated free market. People have called it, and still call it, 'unfettered capitalism' (as I clearly pointed out in ...

i agree with you genevieve i don't think we live in a completely unregulated free market system. we have meat inspectors in the US and in Europe. “Socialism, like the ancient ideas from which it springs, confuses the distinction between government and society. As a result of this, every time we obj...

It seems strange that you would make a condition of a debate that a poster provide undebatable evidence your position is incorrect. True enough. But I think we're either in an 'unfettered capitalist' system or we're not. Or we're mighty close to it or we aren't. But in my history debating the curren...

Re: Ninja Economics
I'm not debating shit until people provide evidence that we live in (mostly) unfettered capitalism. The term is thrown around so much, without any evidence for it or defining the term adequately. Until someone supplies concrete, direct, undebatable evidence that we live in a fundamentally free marke...

Re: things that have made you happy today
Yeah I get that, but just letting it die down would be a waste too and I myself just ignore "off topic" posts and stick to the topic of the thread. I'm not that fuzzed with discussions being stuck to one place and I think other people can too. If a mod were to move them to their own, then ...

Re: things that have made you happy today
1) In response to the free market ideas you're talking about, I think Bill Maher explains the idea pretty well in this video, minus the snarkiness. I support a capitalist market but there has to be laws and regulations imo, otherwise the strongest will take advantage of everyone else. Skip to 2:56,...

Re: Lookin For a Jersey Club Kick
Ithink it highly depends on your sample choice. A concert bass drum sample with a lot of room noise will do the trick. Or any big kick with room noise. A clicky metal kickdrum or a tight funk kick won't cut it.
I didn't know it was a specific sample, but it should be easy to recreate.

Re: Lookin For a Jersey Club Kick
Super low 808 layered with superlow (pitched down) acoustic kick sample. The kick sounds the way it does because it's slowed down so much that it loses a lot of its attack.

Are you describing the current system? Because that's not how it worked with Brehon law. No one would invest in a private court like that.Phigure wrote:great, so if youre rich you can commit all the crimes you want and pay your way out of it. sounds like a utopia!

Re: things that have made you happy today
i dont really see how anyone living in today's world can advocate the free market. just look at the terrible inequality of wealth/income (and the power that comes with it), Today's world isn't a free market. Your point is moot. an inequality that's still increasing and shows no signs of slowing dow...
