at first the idea was to cover the classic ragga tune, then it turned into a two-part giant. not sure if it's dubstep though
any feedback is welcome

This tune is dope!
" not sure if it's dubstep though " - it is, and its wicked.
The only thing i would suggest is doubling the intro bars and putting a hi hat count, or something rhythmic there to make it easier to mix with.
Dont think i would change anything about that tune.
I like it, good Work.

Got one of my own here if anyone is keen for a listen, i would love some feedback.

If anyone likes it pm me for a 320.

Pros-
.sounds dope :D
.synth/bass ting sounds awesome! joker/ginz inspired but still different enoughto make it original
.drums well programmed, good kick drum keeps it thumpin!
.into is HOT!!! makes the drop 9000x better
.general composition is excellent
Advice
.im listening on hedfones but maybe bring up the lows on the kicks and subs? maybe even sidchain compress the kick on the sub to give them both equal space.
.general eqing and reverb on the snare, make the tail last longer and bring down the highs a tidgey bit
.maybe a nice pitch sweep on one of the drops like a neyawwwww sound?
.imaybe a bit more variation, gets abit old towards the end
.drop some really nice vocal samples, maybe kinda 90s rave vox?

Conclusion
dope track just a few nitpicky details that really arnt at all a big deal
id take a 320 might throw it in my next mix :D
big ups!!

abakus wrote:Any feedback for my track? posted it yesterday. Sorry, i'm an impatient tnuc lol.
hmm... first off, @JFK... sure did, bro, thank you :D :D

anyway, i dont really wanna go back and look for your track, so imma do this one 8)

Abakus - "Firenze"

pros:
+intro and pretty much the whole song rely on the choral samples and melody line... good thing they're both epic! well done
+ah, snare is nice and big, would have to be to fit the "Final Battle" kinda vibe you have goin on here
+damn, come to think of it, i have a whole movie goin on in my head along with this track. biggup on the atmosphere
+filthy basses alternated with heaps of grace
+drops are tasty and just epic, like a final conquest.. really the whole mix is well done, that sub bass is thumpin
+makes me want to clutch my chest with one hand and raise my other hand in a fist high into the air!

advice:
-eh, you know its comin... 6:34 total time is super long.. which is fine, but really needs more movements if its gonna be this long
-needs a switchup in automation/timbre somewhere along the way, or maybe a few cleverly placed pauses or bass-only stutters every now and again
-kick needs a solid boosting
-vocal only ending could be cut in half or more, unless you did that for mixing
-super epic sounding, but would get stale unless i was watching orcs tearing into elves or a lightsaber battle or ridiculous jetpack skateboarding stunts or something equally intense

overall:
=really sums up the word "epic", but would drag intensely at the club due to the looping choral part... would work well as an intro to a set, or as a soundtrack for a super intense movie, for sure. nicely done

deepend wrote:myspace.com/deependstepmusic

track called Spiritual.
LAS - "Spiritual"

pros:
+dreamy intro, sets the mood nicely, with some clever drum programming and some "Sega Genesis" sounding synths (0:22), (0:29), and especially (0:34)
+nice work on the sample
+super, super heavy dub style sub bass... dont even have my good headphones on and i can feel that tasty 808
+loving the ebbs and flows of those oldschool style synths
+biggup that you're in Finland
+that girl in your tops with her bum in her profile picture... haha

advice:
-eh, not too many surprises leaves this one dragging its heels
-drops could use just a little more build, that bass is so heavy to be just dropped on the crowd
-sample gets a -tad- rinsed by the end
-needs some sort of head nodder, something on the off beats, to complete the dub feel, if thats what you're going for
-seems like the variety relies on the ambient synths, which is risky business
-throw in one or two more ambient synths toward the end as a surprise and you'll bring people into the song instead of skipping through

overall:
=solid solid dub, that sub bass is GOLDen, just the right amount of resonance for my tastes. work that sample a few different ways and throw some surprises in there and i'd love to sweep my head around to this one! spiritual

can never resist a jSax tune....

Jsaxton - "1910"

props:
+that intro would mix oh so nicely, come to think of it, you're my underground hero for mixing, so that doesnt surprise me one bit
+good grief, serves me right for not looking at the soundcloud while it was playing, but that drop scared the pants off me. well done!!
+double drop (1:09) leaves me hanging on every note... such a unique track!! danceable and dreamy
+clever clever clever programming, well done for a WIP
+okay, three different drops now? im impressed
+ending is nice and golden

advice:
-you dont put high ends in your demos? haha just kidding. but yeh, needs high end drums
-that clever programming and drops isnt enough to keep me hooked all the way thru.. needs some timbre/bass switchup
-maybe even a double-time feel for a short bit? that would be fun
-but dont take me too seriously, keep it danceable and a little bit predictable, gotta have that flow
-MOAR WUBZ... just kidding. this track is so sensual

overall:
=okay, so my advice on this one is a little ambiguous and probably confusing, but thats a good thing! i trust you man, this is very nice so far, once you fill in those high ends and smashes on the drops, you'll have a classic grinder on your hands, i would rather be in the crowd than behind the tables for this one, i could see the the ladies gettin rowdy on this one!!!

aaaaaaallllllllllrighty then

DubSac - "Faces of War"

props:
+i can always get down on some violence themed dubstep haha
+so the beginning ambience is good, in theory (elaborated below)
+those break notes into the ambience are harshly awesome (0:43)
+(1:11-1:23) that automation is killer, feeds off the machine-gun sounds.. got that "ratatatatat" sound to it
+really, those breaks could make people lose their minds
+kinda reminds me of something Benga would throw at you when you least expect it

advice:
-i think you need some stronger, more authentic samples to start the track off. unless youre using synths to replicate the sounds, which is interesting, but really it comes off as cheesy to me.
-throw some sines on it! needs to shake my face if its gonna remind me of battle
-synths could use a little richness overall, really, maybe thru multioscillators or FM mods, something along those lines would bring the pain
-ambience sounds a little dry, overall, the kicks have a nice timbre but no oomph
-toss some high freqs or a crash at that first drop to really smash heads

overall:
=gives me a nice solid oldschool feel, really reminds me of Benga, who was one of my original heroes.. so you're definitely on the right track. spice those ambient war samples at the beginning up and the sample into the drop will have a lot more effect.

Nice one thierry! Really feeling the growling bassline. Sounds well-mixed, and the drums are fresh!
Just not too fond of the bleeps. Keep the tracks coming, reaaaally liked your safari dub track.

I'm new to this website. Below is my first and only dubstep (is it dubstep?) track i've made so far. It's called Energy Rush.
Would appreciate some constructive feedback that i can use in my next project :)

hey mate welcome and thanks for your feedback!

your track sound good!
pad's and piano sound great on the intro but your droping your drum way to late it should of been dropped about 0:28 imo
your sound is solid its crisp but i also think you may need more sub just a little louder maybe..
but great track keep it up.

I'm having a hard time EQing the sub right so it won't eat the other frequencies of my track. guess i got some reading to do, just found the producers bible section, i guess there's some good info over there :)

Hey, first off at knell - cheers for ur last review, I will probably cut it down and spruce it up when I have the chance cos I been getting a lot ofthat. But cheers for that it's cool u spend so much time reviewing all our songs and helping us out. Really cool of u man. Same goes for jfk.

Here are two other tracks I have done, less soundtracky more
actual aong orientated.

Soundcloud

soulsaw-
Just a very dark dubstep tune with a grungy wub

Soundcloud

smells like teen dub-
remix if nirvana's smells like teen spirit

personally I prefer smells
like teen spirit remix but others don't seem to like it that much.

I don't mind I'd whoever reviews this only has the stamina to review one of them lol

cheers all
