Cheers for all the suggestions, it's SNH moments like this that bring a tear to my eye.

Even E-F came with a helpful suggestion.

Jesus, don't let the beer police see this thread
I figured I was to late to veto that brew dog crap, but Carlsberg etc.. seriously.

Miren is correct. For actual beer I'd look for some Belgium ones.
I'd go with Gulden Draak.
Not that there isn't any good Dutch beer, but it's mostly pilsener.

Belgium is the supreme authority on this subject.

Rodenbach http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/216/673
This is not high in alcohol content, but a really great sour beer.

Brasserie d'Achouffe http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/321/2269
Perfect with a roast xmas goose

Huyghe http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/180/2347
Obviously.

Chimay http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/215/2512
Obviously.

There are so many other classic examples.

IMO the best beer in the world - I used to be a Chimay Cinq Cents man, but this.... this stuff is so good that people who don't like beer like it, and people who like beer love it:

ska's decadent imperial IPA, 10% abv and around 6 bucks retail for a 22oz bottle. its delicious, and its pretty easy to grab.

if you want something a bit more relevant to the season, ballast point just released their victory at sea coffee vanilla porter. i think you can get it around 9 bucks retail.. its legend, at 10% abv. deschutes' abyss was just released, an imperial stout brewed with molasses and licorice. pretty much my favorite stout released state side... 11% abv, might be able to snag a bottle for 15 bucks retail.

It's well nice.

$12 is really expensive compared to what you pay for it in Belgium
