The key is to have a clean fully colonized substrate.
Once you are sure of that, the growing becomes easier.

Yeah these kits sound fairly hassle free so I thought why not.

You can use rice and make your own kits but no, don't do that.

Contact sporeworks, they have kits.
Or look for a cheaper option.
They generally come in myco bags with a breathable patch.
Cut the top off and mist, fan to trigger fruiting.

I grow on horse dung once colonization is complete.
Creates massive fruit bodies

I grew some amazonian cubensis that ended up being the size of small unmbrellas.
30cm tall with 15cm wide caps.
