Crime and Grunk from Alaska here. I make dubstep, rock/ambient/experimental, and am part of a beat making crew. I'm EXCITED about dubstep as a genre. Excited the way I was about oldschool ragga jungle.
slide here hailing from the nz, friends with baddie if the name rings a bell with any of ya, coming from a motley background from crusty underground punkrock bands to reggae hip hop drum and bass and back again...been getting more and more interested in dubstep over the past only month or so, havent been able to get n-type's rinse fm set from april 22 off my ipod for the last 2 weeks, fucking excellent mate (anyone have a tracklist for that??)!
might even be attempting to produce some of my own soon (a penny for everytime someone has said that in this thread...) but listening to these mixes just makes me want to create myself!
keep it dark and massive...

Yo. Sen aka DeepSix here from Hamilton (1 hr. south of Toronto, Canada). Err... I've been in to dubstep since I got into the UK Garage scene and play a mixed bag of UK house & garage, dubstep, grime whatever.
I'm currently working on a whole wack of dubstep tunes, so hopefully you'll all be hearing some in the very new future. I'm into the warmth and soul that can be found in dubstep, and, of course THE BASS.
;D

Ya man, it amazing how a form of music that was caracterized by a comitment to evolution , advancement and pushing the boundries could devolve to something tantamount to happy hardcore. Makes you kind of pissed of . Source Direct were one of the best, shame they split. Even Photek lost it after his album( 1st) and has only made one or two good tracks since.DramaGeddon wrote:Hello..
used to make tracks with Source-direct under the name Instra-mental.. havnt released anything in over 5 years due to the way dNb had become so formulated... only been listning to dubstep for a couple of months now.. but Im addicted! its the perfect balance between my love of electronia and old dNb.. and i havnt been this excited and focused in the studio for years!
Drama.
Nice to know you have a recindled enthusiasm.

hey there!
im tom. i run a hardcore dnb label called hate recordings that is based out of the washington, dc area. i've been listening to dubstep off and on for about 6 months now.
i first heard dubstep when i accidentally walked into the wrong room during a dom & roland set @ sonar in baltimore. the sounds coming out the speakers were some shit that absolutely shattered my world. i didnt know what in the hell it was, but i instantly fell in love.
my favorate sounds are without any question coming from the h.e.n.c.h. crew. they are downright filthy and in my opinion the best thing that's happened to electronic music since the no u-turn crew (original 96 techstep - ed rush & optical, trace, nico, ect).
i'd really like to start up a dubstep label and release the REAL hard shit in the near future and bring some serious attention stateside.

Awesome forum you've got going, the blog dissapeared and I wondered what had happened!
A bit about me; from a Hip Hop & D&B background + found Dubstep by way of a mix posted up on DOA (dont test the P.I) ,, got a few plates of my own these days + spinning them on our weekly radio show alongside my crew who are generally D&B DJ's.. Run a almost-monthly clubnight here called 'Urban Camouflage',, past guests include Raiden, Outrage, Robyn Chaos, Agent Alvin.. Be wikked to have a Dubstep headliner in the future Other than that big respect to those out there shaping the sound, keep it coming
Introduction long overdue.
The doxxor aka. Dokta Disk straight outta Copenhagen.
Been an anglophile from way back and just love the sounds coming out of the UK. Started off as a jungle/d'n'b dj in the early 1990's and also did some produicng in a danish d'n'b act. Caught the 2-step vibe around 1998 and was the first in Denmark to play those tunes. FWD to the new millenium. Been doing some producing and a mixtape series with focus on grime and garage. Listened to the early Skream and Benga tunes on Big Apple but it wasn't untill the Breezeblock Dubwars special that I fully understood and appreciated the dubstep vibe. But better late than never so I started producing some tracks one of which I've posted in the music section.

Thought i'd make my first post- been checking the forum over the past few days at work (you know how it is!) and thought i should say something.
Similar background to most probably garage early days, drum and bass, then found the Dubstep...
I've been mixing for prob 8yrs- haven't bought anything except Dubstep for months and recently trying my hand at 140bpms- loving the freedom to experiment.
