HELP!!! DJ'S READ ME!

Need some advice regarding CD-decks. Used to DJ vinyl but have never spent more than 5 mins of these new fangled CD things. Basically need to get set up again but not sure about the different options avaliable.

Obv I am starting out but I dont want to be getting anything too basic which will just need upgrading or not be similar to the gear used in clubs etc. What did people start out on and what have you found to be the best gear for you?

Any help/experiences much appreciated. Taaa

honestly if you can't afford to get on some cdj800s or 1000s, then go with serato.

i'd go with serato over cdjs any day of the week personally.

Why not have the best of both worlds and get some Numark X2 Hybrids.

but do newmarks last the test of time?

is there a jog button/pitch bend button?

I found the Pioneers really easy to use - first time I played on them for 20-30 mins then straight to a club and played a set on them. Solid bits of kit too.

Never used Serato so can't comment on that.

Just Bought a Pair of CDJ400's - combining the best elements of 800's & 1000's in a smaller package at less cost...

Equally as Solid as there Bigger Brothers and Easy to use.

There really easy! Just make sure you have the cd locked on when your playing.

I was playing over the weekend and ejected the wrong cd while i was playing

iv had a pair of ttx1s since they first came out (there sill my fav turntable on the market) and had no problems wot so ever with them. numarks top range gear is built well

If you cant afford a CDJ 1000 mk3 (industry standard) get a CDJ 800 MK2 otherwise don't bother, just keep saving till you can afford it, although having said that my mate has a pair of Numark Axis CD decks and he says they're fine and another mate has CDJ200s and he swears by them.

A hybrid CD / vinyl turntable sounds like a terrible idea to me not only because I hate numark turntables but combining the technology is just asking for trouble.

My general rule of thumb for profesional DJ equiptment is:

CD deck = Pioneer
Turntable = Technics
Mixer = Ecler
Headphones = Ultrasone / Sennheiser

the only thing thats 100% reliable (almost) are the cdj1000's. 800's arent bad but the 1000's are the only cdjs worth using out in a club... Whatever you do dont buy denons, had a nightmare experience with them once, never again!

I hadn't heard that Denons are bad but apparently the Technics SLDZ-1200 are terrible, you cant actually scratch on them like you can with the Pioneers or Denons, loads of videos on youtube about it.

Agree that CDJ 1000s are the only decks for clubs but the 800 have most of the same functions apart from they don't use SD cards and are perfectly fine for practising on at home i.e. if you can use an 800 you can use a 1000.

The 800s have the added bonus that you wont have to sell all of your major organs to be able to afford them.

cdj800s are the standard in this neck of the woods

I wish I had a pair

played in a warehouse on Sat night and the bass was shaking the ceiling paint down on the records causing them to skip

I was tagging with the homies and they were playing on CDJ's.

the paint falling didn't effect them at all
