I hope this e-letter finds you well, my treasured subjects. You all have my love coming up to this the most special time of year, they have finally raised the buntings around the palace, though I know it seems to get sooner every year and some of the elder family members, I'm sure you can guess who I'm referring to! find if vulger, I'm glad, it is so festive to see the bass bins decked in the fineries of red and white.

You have my sincerest well wishes,

Mary x

I know what you mean mate, I did the exact same too
the way to conquer this is start producing, make your own music then you will grow to appreciate the stuff that became jaded!

tbh mate i think it's part of getting old...i feel the same way but i still find lots of music to mine...

modern rock is totally pointless and the main thing i find myself doing is becoming increasingly embarrassed of what i like to term 'very white people'

still i buy a shitload of cds and downloads, vinyls etc every month...

download wise i love grabbing tunes in wav off juno that i loved ages back but never got hold of unmixed/digitally

i dunno why but shows bore the fuck out of me now

its probably because the "old" genres are getting extremely void of any soul

like funk bands as you mentioned...wheres the soul in duplicating a 30 year old genre..??

theres a whole world waiting to be introduced from the world of electronic music production as soon as the technology gets easier to implement in live instruments...and not just a mpc and sample triggering. true live electronic music will reach a depth unattainable from production

it will change music forever, i promise you

Does anyone get what I'm saying? Is this too much of an emo post? Is there any life out there?

I caught myself downloading 500 country hits just to get the burst of something new. What's next classical, then opera then jump under a bus?
What the fuck man? Way to completely prejudge everything based purely on your narrow knowledge of music! ;P

Straight up agree that there is a lot of vapid, unappealing music out there but there's also a vast wealth of sound that makes giddy. Fair play, charting artists are always going to be conservative and boring. There hasn't been a decent rock act since the 90s? That's just plainly unfair to assume when you're basing your opinion on the top 40. If you give me a vague outline of what you want from a rock band, I'll find 5 bands you'll enjoy from, say, the past 5 years. EASILY.

Jazz is old black men in an elevator? Jaga Jazzist, John Zorn, Bohren & der Club of Gore and Peter Brotzmann all disagree with you. Shit, even in the 60s Jazz was mental. I struggle to get my head around half of it now.

So, now that you've mentioned 3 or 4 genres, many of which are slightly dated, you think you've completely bled all of the material available dry? You gotta think outside the box. Try something you'd usually never go for.

dubstep, digital/industrial dancehall, new roots, digital dub, glitch-hop, lazerbass, aquacrunk, mudstep, drumstep, darkstep, drum'n'bass, breakcore, raggacore, frenchcore, hardtek, abstract electro, broken techno, ETC ETC

music is on the rise, what the hell are you talking about. and as soon as the instrumentalists learn how to use the technology to take their music to the next level it will get even better.

Glad you liked it, it wasn't that depressing tho', was it?

I'm no spring chicken either.I think this is why I am so drawn to electronic music, it gives me that thing. The whole "I found this track?myspace/mix" thing and the fact I was not told that I should like it by the greater media. Since i was 15/16 i have been actively seeking music, I am now 29. I don't think I will every be jaded with music. It excites me way too much :)

I'm still finding music from the early 90s that excites me so much it is a breath of fresh air. This may sound a little cheesy - Try digging a little harder and you will be rewarded

I'm 28 and I have been actively seeking music since I was 14. Most of the time I listen to electronic music, but I also enjoy listening to other kinds of music.
There is so much to explore in music and that makes me absolutely not jaded with music.
I think having an open mind is important for this.
Don't repeat the songs you do like too much, but dig for music, listen to other genres, follow your own taste...

There are some tracks like Michaël Jackson - Bad, Europe - The Final Countdown (my first 2 lp's) and for example Andy Stott's Brief Encounter and the whole first cd of Various Production 'The World is Gone', I will never get tired of !

And there are very good podcasts and mix series on the net. For example: Tranquera (listening now to episode 160 and it's again a nice one), Electronic Explorations !!!, Sonic Router, the mixes of Fact Magazine, Xlr8r, Big Up Magazine, Hotflush, Dub War,...
They are all free, legal and very enjoyable imho. And they all come from time to time with new ones to download and listen to.

The music I enjoy most I buy on cd or vinyl.

And to end this post, there are so much labels with very good music. It certainly takes some time to find your way to the music you like most and to be able to play the music you are most in the mood for on that moment. But what you get is certainly worth of it.

Nope. Never. Dig more. But also @ 35 got jaded with going out all the time and now have a family and blaze and a drink making tracks in the night. Quality . I prefer being 30+ than 20ish coz I want to sit around producing stuff more.

Have to disagree about the jazz and hating on funk comment. I love that shit and will always do. As others have said the more you listen to music the more you'll become familiar with it. That's why I've always searched for news sounds because yes I do reach a threshold too.
