Interesting read! Here's a less open-minded one from DJ History's forum. Left foot what?

Seckle, I totally agree with you. Each to their own and all that. It's just interesting to see what other people are saying about it - and you can always tell who's actually been to a dance. No hate coming from here. Jus dubstep LOVE.

I am that "waste guy"..

I've only been to FWD 3 times, so perhaps I'm not knowledgable enough to comment on these so called Dubstep MC's. But I have listened to hiphop before I listened to Grime/Dubstep even b4 either genre was really moving too. So I place a lot of importance on both lyrics and beats. A swag MC can ruin a beat for me. When I went FWD and he was there chatting his usual nonsense I was pissed. Anyone can do that over a riddim. Perhaps u was listenin 2 Techno/Indie music and u don't really understand the ways in which bars are as important as the riddims sometimes.

You also took my point completley out of context, I was saying that I'd prefer people who are proven MC's & who have been spittin 4 years to spray bars over these beats. Not some guy just TALKING away and going "Waaa Waaa Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" etc. I'm not sending for Crazy D, I just don't see why he is needed when there are far better alternatives.

I think in truth a lot of you dubstep fans are shook of the grime scene and think that if a bag a man turn up and spray bars on ur set the "Nice Vibes" will be ruined. That is a fair and valid point. Because the last Sidewinder I was at was almost ruined because some children jumped on a hype and had 2 shank a next guy. No one wants that, including the majority of the grime scene. Some of the dubstep raves I have been 2 have been certiified wasteman nerd conventions. A bit of attitude and hype will make dubstep BETTER. As long as the BAD ELEMENTS of the grime scene are kept out of the venue there is really nothing to lose with merging the 2 aspects....(grime l yrics, dubstep beats).

A lot of these people have been producing/spitting from when u was still listening 2 the Klaxons and all the garbage. Just because often the people who listen to/make grime music are ghetto people it dosen't mean their musical prowess / knowledge of when to let a riddim ride out and when 2 spray is any more or less than ppl in the dubstep scene. They are MC's its their job.

I spend a lot of time trying 2 convince grime fans that Dubstep is actually far superior in some ways and they should give it a chance. But it seems like a lot of dubstep fans have this vehement unfounded hatred for a genre of music (grime) they know next to nothing about.....

reading back on what I typed a lot of it sounds confused and even wrong. if you'd like to discuss it i'll be at FWD on the 2nd, so u can tell me 2 suck out 2 my face then if you really want to.
Might see me goin on safe and pally

nah my musical background, with regards to any form of MCing, features reggae, dub, dancehall, hip hop (decent and obnoxious), ukg, grime, dnb, hardcore... now dubstep. my opinion on the matter just differs from yours... i really don't think dubstep needs to be supplemented with full on MCing... prefer it in the ambient master of ceremonys way. but for other musics i likes something different. i was on grime before dubstep so i'm not anti-grime MCs or anything. sorry for calling you waste tho!

In moderation though, its not about hearing pure mans on the mic in a pinch set or whatever.

and...

Crazy D has been spitting for years, and doesnt just say WOWWOWWOW on the mic or whatever, he has bare lyrics to draw for, im not gonna lie i do find him a bit tiring if hes on the mic the majority of the night or whatever, and personally dont really enjoy that much of his singsong style stuff but he brings energy to the dance while still leaving tunes with the space to breath and progress, and has been doing this since day and is a proven mc, my old tapes of him on hatchas sets on flight fm from back in the day are evidence of that

Bruv don't mistake kindness for weakness. One of the things i like about the scene is that its got this good attitude, and it aint about being a fassy hole it's about being proper and catching vibes off the music. I aint shook of the grime scene but like many people on this forum i don't get particuarly excited by a 19 year old talking about shanking somones gran. I find it imature and unstimulating. This is opinion and i see the fall of the scene as syptomatic of this negative and unprogressive attitude.
Lets have it right about the nerds comments we're posting on the internet so there is a bit of nerd in us all, u post on two forums so??? And while i'm at it there aint that many great grime MCs, flows are usually weak and lyrics are stale especially when compared with the Soundboys of Saxon Coxone etc... Dubstep dont need that MC ego vibe it needs to be Hosted thats why Poax smacks it. Anyway i'll get off my soap box.
Peace and 1 love.
