So hard to predict, i think it has much more potential for longevity than drums, partly due to its diversity and look at how long that has lasted in various forms.

Its such a versatile bpm look at all the offshoots in such a small amount of time(that sort of bubble diagram shows it, think it something to do with fwd), its still growing and if anything the entrance into the mainstream will bring a lot of people in that will hopefully explore the history and bring a new perspective upon the genre.

There will be resurgences of the older early styles and then new styles, its one of the fastest growing genres at the moment and has a long way to go.

Still in the same old, deadout Half Step, ‘boom, kissssh’ variation-less, k-hole that it’s in at the moment. Oh, but with more mid range.

Two or three times as many skulls on the flyers. Skream and Benga will be doing the school run.
And people will still be asking the same questions on here

Same path as D&B I'd say... it'll "die" then have a revival and then fade away a bit & become more underground again. Every now and again, a tune or two will come to the fore and break into the charts.

That's generally what happens across most electronic music genres.... remember Big Beat?! That was massive for a while... :?

It seems to be growing at a decent speed right now, seems it can only get bigger from there. I think if it ever got into the mainstream it probably wouldn't be like it is now. Most likely a lot softer with vocals, maybe like 'I need air' from Skream.

I think dubstep will still be around, but with the way it is constantly changing we'll never know what it'll be like in the future, probably by then there will be many variations of genres similar to dubstep.

I will keep my mixes around to play when I get sick of listening to gangster rap in the nursing home.

guess it all depends oh how you define dubstep

you probably just call it "future garage" or "funky" or whatever, but it's all good

it's been the same music since the early 90's

people will explore new avenues and give it new names, but it's the same music and it'll be the same music: music from the 'nuum

and i think in 10 years it will be incredible, whatever the kids will be calling it that day...
