Who likes noise?
I'd post this in the Other Music forum, but I don't think anybody actually goes there.

Re: Who likes noise?
Well, basically if I like it or not.j-sh wrote:how do you differentiate between good and bad noise? not criticising, just curious

Or if it gives me a bad head or annoys me. Basically, like every other genre of music. If you like it, you like it!Helix [Delay] wrote:Well, basically if I like it or not.j-sh wrote:how do you differentiate between good and bad noise? not criticising, just curious
Re: Who likes noise?
Noise is one of the music genres of which I'll never understand why people listen to it.

Re: Who likes noise?
i always thought that it was like those sound deprivation things that just blast white noise at you until you start hallucinating ... they just blast random shit at the audience until their ears give up and hear other thingsNilsFG wrote:Noise is one of the music genres of which I'll never understand why people listen to it.
which isnt a bad thing i guess
Re: Who likes noise?
It's like the opposite end of the ambient spectrum, basically.knell wrote:i always thought that it was like those sound deprivation things that just blast white noise at you until you start hallucinating ... they just blast random shit at the audience until their ears give up and hear other thingsNilsFG wrote:Noise is one of the music genres of which I'll never understand why people listen to it.

Because they're Hipsters
Re: Who likes noise?
I like some Merzbow stuff, haven't really gotten that much into the genre. Merzbow - 1931 is an awesome album.
Statement of Intent VIP / Sahaquiel v4 single out now on UK Trends.

I aint no fucking hipster.
Re: Who likes noise?
I was joking, I don't know much about the genre really, I do own Alec Empire vs Merzbow though but that's about it. Not into stuff like though because it's just taking the piss.wolf89 wrote:I aint no fucking hipster.
Re: Who likes noise?
Just sick of people throwing the word Hipster round at certain genres.
Especially at Metal that I listen to.
Come up to me at a metal gig and call me a fucking hipster. Just see what happens.

Re: Who likes noise?
Stalaggh are awesome
Hijokaiden are the best live band ever, they're cover of Hawkwind's 'silver machine' on 'Tapes' is unreal:
Prurient is great live, funny how at the end of every show he runs away out of the venue like the emotional power of the noise was too much or something
'The History of Aids' is one of my favourite Prurient records:
His later records where he started incorporating Black Metal and Synths into the mix rule, particularly 'Pleasure Ground':
Wold are brilliant for the noise/black metal mix, check out Screech Owl:
Whitehouse are class, live show is alot of fun, Sutcliffe Jugend are worth checking out
this record with Prurient and Sutcliffe Jugend working together is mint
and this one, when noise meets ambient

what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.
