TDM records wants to sign 4 of my tracks

Post by paradigm001 » Fri Sep 30, 2011 3:55 am

Is this a good thing that a label wants to sign 4 of my songs? I have seen them advertize on about 6 other threads, but they only have one dubstep artist right now. They are an indie label.
Should I hold out for a larger lablel?

thanks in advance

I wouldn't waste time signing 4 tracks to a label with no experience in the dubstep community or a decent audience to back that up..
wait it out eventually you'll have labels flooding you for releases :D

What you have is better than hoping you’ll get something better/more in the future.
In this case, signing small might be better than HOPING a larger label will want to sign them in the future. They may not.

You both have good points, I could have balls and an ego and say "no way Im better then this small label" but then I would end up with nothing but the rights to my songs.
On the other hand its a good start to have 4 of my tracks signed. I am a novice having made only 6 dubstep tracks in the last 4 months.

If you want my honest opinion

Hold on to your tracks, hone your skills, give it time.

There is too much mediocre stuff out there.

It's way more interesting to come out of nowhere

Have you listened to other releases from them/From their artists ? Are they friendly guys ? Do you feel they are being professional ? Imho having your tracks on a label is not only about recognition / Hype. I'd rather get my tracks on a small but friendly label than a big label that would only be interested in the tunes and treat me like i'm a shit. I'd say go for it, build a discography, get better at producing and eventually the label will grow with you. Do you know how Tempa began ?? They had to struggle to sell the first horsepower 12 they ever put out.

They seem like really nice people and the music they mostlly have is drum n bass. Not the grimey kind. So im thinking hes going on a leap of faith or out on a limb by signing me cause I have harder sounding tracks and dubstep is big now. I do think that the label head is trying to redifine their image and move into that direction. Who knows, I could be the first artist of dubstep that their prowd to represent. Anyways I plan on still producing and Im still learning as Im going. Thanks for the advice.

What you need to ask yourself, what can this label do for you what you cannot do for yourself at this moment as an artist?? if this label can.. then y not sign them.. get your name about and possibly open the door to better things... if not ... hold out, or just release it yourself if your eager to get the tracks out...

well Ive been producing for a while drum n bass electronica and house remixes. I told myself at the beginning of the summer that I would make 6 dubstep tracks and see where it takes me. Well its taken me pretty far if I acknowledge that Im new in the game of dubstep and someone cares enough to have me be a standout artist on their label. So I pretty much gonna sign because Ive met my first goal. And I know my dubstep is only gonna change and improve. After all whats an artist if he cant produce art! I plan on making more in the future so this is just a stepping stone.
