krk rokits

Post by samkablaam » Tue Aug 12, 2008 9:57 am

im planning on getting some krks. i can find a pair of generation 1 rp5s for 160, which is amazing. but i dont know whether its worth saving for some g2s.

im only going to be using them for mixing. maybe trying a bit of producing, but not a lot.

the descriptions ive found on the internet just say the g2s are more accurate, which doesnt help a lot. anyone know anything?

i have the gen 1s and i'm happy with them. paid 300 for both and never regretted it.

they're more than enough for just mixing.

i'm on the 1st gen rp6 and they are great, take a while to get used to bass level wise but they are super crisp and open in the midrange and upper freqs.

listen to the gen 5's 6's and 8's the other day. they were ok but I think you can get better value for money with other makes tbh

Im planning to buy Generation 1 Rokits --

BUT, im pondering about what model to get. RP6's look like a great value for money, but from what ive seen and heard, everyone has RP8's for their bass. But im only going to use Rokits for monitoring...but id still like to hear a bit of bass.

Which model would be better for monitoring, without considering the woofer size?

and are there any alternatives?

the rp6 only go down to 49hz so you may want to get a sub if you plan on doing a lot of work down there - i don't think you need one though, i find that as a rule of thumb if you can just about hear the subs and they're showing on a freq analyzer, then you're fine.

you can do great mixdowns on virtually any monitors, you just need time to learn them. IMO of course
