Introductions [for committee consideration]

Postby cede » Mon May 08, 2006 11:09 pm

Hey,

I am CEDE.

I run a label called Goosehound. I do label management, handle all the production issues and communication and do all art direction. Nicholas Sauser handles A&R and promotions. I also handle all the web stuff and built the site: here which also includes the cart

I also run the Offshore Recordings site, and share Art Direction duties with Soundadvice. OSR site

I founded Microcosm Music in 2004 with Ezekiel Honig and continue on today as art director. Microcosm site

I am a part of a collective called Aesthetic Parcel. The site is currently under construction, but you can get some ideas here: Aesthetic Parcel

wow some impressive work there cede

well my name's david, i'm a producer and also a dj. not really experienced in anything to do with running a label (as you can probably tell :D ). i love the music, and i love the idea of self financed records. as paul said a couple of days ago "put your money where your mouth is". i'm also a photographer, so if the stage comes where we need promo stuff, then i'd be up for taking pics of artists/management etc. i love the music and i love records, and id love to contribute to this in some form.

Haha blooody hell man thats a cv. Big up you on the OSR stuff, loving that art and website so much. The work for that label stood out a mile in dnb when i found them. Also enjoying the bumping minimal of Goosehound as I type!

I mean, it might be presumptious of me, but for me it seemed obvious from the off that you were the man to be at the helm...you certainly have my vote. What degree of responsibility would you want to take on?

By the way, im Ben, i have no experience with this business, but would be willing to play any part I could, I suppose co-ordination / communications / liasing is probably the area that would suit me best. As I say, I'm very inexperienced, but I'm very keen to learn and am very passionate about the music

Well I am up to do whatever I can. I have learned a lot about how this stuff works out, and have some good people to call on for help.

The only issue is that I have very little to invest. As the majority of my money is spoken for for the next few releases. I mean I will see what I can contribute when the time comes.

And as far as my efforts are concerned I am not really looking to get involved for the sake of profit or big rewards. I have loved this music for quite some time now and it is reward enough seeing more of it get out there.

Plus this whole scene is one of the strongest and most objective I have seen in a while, so that is also a plus.

My name is Ralph and I'm an addict.

I produce and play music, some of it my own. I've also self released a couple of tracks on a white label and sold out my 500 run in less than 2 months, with no distro other than local shows, and having my release in local shops.

I'm pretty good at finding undiscovered talent. I wouldn't mind being a scout, of sorts. I don't know that I've gained enough trust around here to handle any money, but I do have some accounting experience, though I dropped that course of study for another after 2 years :D

I have connections with TAX ATTORNEYS and LITIGATION should we ever need them in the US side of the pond.

I'm good at networking and management of artists and I've promoted my fair share of events. I was actually planning on starting my own label until this started to form. Depending on how this turns out, I might still be doing that... I might do that even if this does work out.

Lets put it this way... if I recommend we sign a track and this label passes on it, you can probably expect it to be competition in the coming months ;)

In addition to promotion of shows, I have also been street teaming for MAJOR labels since I was 15, and I am now 23. I have 8 years of experience in promoting major label music. Not always bands I've liked, but System of a Down, Marilyn Manson, Deftones, Linkin Park, Slipknot, A Perfect Circle, Taproot, Alien Ant Farm, to name a very few.

When I started street teaming for them, they were playing in bars and clubs, now they are touring arena's and complete sellouts. This may not be a good thing, but demonstrates what getting the word out on the street level can do for the music.

SWAG is a must... stickers, a few CD singles to get radio play, flyers, etc... any way for us to actually get the word out that doesn't include being on the platter of a big name DJ's tables is where I can come in. I'm very good at what I do.

My name is Frederik (aka 2000F, which os the post code of my ends). I´m 29, I hail from Denmark, and I´m a part of the Copenhagen-based OHOI! crew.

I have been in the music business for quite some years, mainly studio/production-wise. I have studied audio engineering in London, and worked for four years at the biggest studio in Denmark (www.medleystudio.dk).

Currently I study social sciences at the university (writing a paper on Danish Music Export, actually), however also doing a lot of work at my father´s studio and the OHOI! studio (situated in the same building).

I started DJ´ing around 1992, and promoting 1993-1995. I have received several nominations/awards for both event organisation as well my DJ´ing skills. Furthermore, I have been producing my own beats (as well as producing/engieering for band) for years and years, and have released my own tracks and remixes on different labels as diverse as Acid Jazz (UK), Meltong Pot Music (Germany) and April Record (Denmark) etc.

In 2002 the OHOI! crew started promoting UKG in Denmark (including Grime, Dubstep etc), and our first flyer for these events was actually 500 free 7" singles! :) We have since risen to be one of the most succesfull "brands" in Denmark and won two awards this spring for one of our biggest events (RAW 2005 last year: 3500 guests, 6 arenas, +30 artists and BBC 1Xtra live worldwide broadcast). We promote: UKG (Dubstep, grime, 4x4, Breakstep etc), Drum 'n' Bass, Hip Hop and Dancehall/Reggae (including the official Danish sound clash championship).

Currently I have a huge list of contacts to the music industry all over Europe and the UK (as well as some in the States), and I´d love to help out on this project.

Hi shy

basically, we've pretty much decided on a name - Pressing Issues Recordings

we've decided to master in the uk then press on both sides of the pond, or press here and ship. either way, records are getting to the USA

we're currently debating what tracks to have on the first release - whether we have one 'big' producer and one unknown, or just go on quality of the music. we're still undecided at this stage

it looks like CEDE is gonna be in charge, and auralassassin has helped assign everyone some sort of role, in a committee kind of structure.

oo and artwork for the release is still being debated, although we're lucky to have lots of contacts for great designers.

safe

I don't know HOW this has slipped my mind thus far, but I currently work for an email marketing company (Bronto Software, Inc. - http://www.bronto.com), and I can def speak with our execs to see about hooking up an account for the label.

If anyone has HTML experience, a template would need to be built, I can offer suggestions and best practices, but this would hopefully be a really effective way of reaching our target marketing, creating more brand loyalty, and generally keeping the press/customers/industry contacts updated on what is going on.

There's a demo on the website if anyone wants to take a look, just let me know!

all email addresses collected would be opt-in collections, and if i was provided with personal lists, i would make 100% sure htat something was signed to say "yes i can send mail to these addresse"

also, unsubscribe links are provided in every email as standard, as well as information about the company (bronto) via the powered by logo, its' very easy to get in contact iwht us if you feel you are being spammed.

i'm seriously against spamming and we fully comply with all CAN-SPAM laws.
