Clubs are such insufferable dungeons of misery, the inmates have to take mood-altering substances to make their ordeal seem halfway tolerable. This leads them to believe they "enjoy" clubbing. They don't. No one does. They just enjoy drugs.

Drugs render location meaningless. Neck enough ketamine and you could have the best night of your life squatting in a shed rolling corks across the floor.

thats pretty much the conclusion ive come to with the majority of nights out, dont see the point in going out and having to get wasted to have a 'good time'. i dont really bother going out anymore unless its to a dubstep night...

as for no cameras being allowed, it's just another step fwd/rinse seem to be taking in order to take this scene away from the people who have made fwd/rinse and dubstep in general successful and start trying to make big money out of it. if that ain't true then they're certainly not presenting themselves in the right way.

there was this crew based in seattle and portland who used to throw shows back in the mid to late 90's.. threw good partys but lost a lot of respect from the scene when they would sit at the door collecting $20 a head, and once the box closed wouldnt even come in to the party.. they would take their loot, get straight into their cars and leave.

Tempa have an unfortunate tendency to have good ideas and then piss off their core audience by faiing to communicate their intentions effectively. They wanted to stop the vibe of the night being killed by the box being surrounded by wannabe pro videographers. This is good for everyone. But they didn't communicate this well and have annoyued a lot of people unnecessarily. They really need to learn to do this better - it will save them a lot of trouble.

Did anyone actually get any grief about it? Seemed to be people snapping away all night..

come on! you couldn't think "yeah, wat a big line-up! they continue to push all angels and levels of talent!" nah,. u all start thinkin that dey wanna control the WHOLE "SCENE"! but no one clearly ASKED why, there could be a good reason, but i get the feelin most are more satisfied with complaining than with chillin to great music.

I think everybody is kinda asking why, especially since the End typically doesn't have a camera ban. If they had given a decent reason that made sense, I doubt there would be as many complaints.

On the other hand, I hear ya. If this lineup came and played any club near me, I'd pretty much do whatever they asked. So jealous you guys get to hear all the best grime mcs spit over the best dubstep djs back to back all night long. I gotta make it back over to LDN sometime soon...

true, but at the end of the day what happened with barefiles combined with this, it does make u think......

plus, i havent got a problem whatsoever with amateur photographers trying to get some good shots, if anything its a very good thing, documenting events such as this one not only helps to spread the word but it will create little bits of history with each shot.

my first impression of this, with the barefiles ordeal in mind, was that fwd/rinse/tempa/ammunition were wanting to have full control of documenting the event so that in future it will be them who receive royalties when photos are used in press.

Some people have come across badly from this, as they did in reaction to the barefiles situation.

that german tv crew were really annoying especially that light they kept shining into the crowd. must have been worse for the djs though.

Is that really the reason? To stop people crowding the DJ booth? So what all about all the people wanting to document their night out? You can ban video, sure; but cameras? I don't buy it.

If that's their reason then it's a pretty poor one. There are other ways of getting round an isue like that.

And preserving the mystique of the night? There didn't seem to be much mystique when we were all fighting for our place in the queue for three hours (having got there at 9 30 I might add)...

I don't know. Perhaps this rant is in part fuelled by the frankly over the top security policy at The End. If we'd all been let through in good time and hadn't knackered our limbs prior to entry then I might not be gettig quiet so lippy!

I had a great time for the three hours I was in there. I think the smoking ban excuse is quite a good one - not wanting to have smoke documented on camera - but surely that's more to do with The End than it is the oganisers?

surely when making a decision like this, it's their duty to let people know why? i don't see anyinsults being thrown.

That reason makes sense. Actually, it was nice to get to drink a bit more and get some proper skanking done without the camera bag attached for a change.

Just a thought - I haven't been doing it for long, but I've had the oppurtunity to work in some photographer pits. Chatting with the organizers, they told me that the actual allowing of the photographers in to the pit is timed to coincide with the band's arrival on stage, the idea being that the presence of the photographers rushing in and the flashes popping off adds to the crowd's excitement. We get kicked out after a couple of tunes (don't really need to be there longer than that anyway).

This is of course in a gig scenario, not a club in a dark room, so I seriously doubt a strategy like that would be appropriate, especially in somewhere like, say, Plastic People.

I suppose that, like it or not, dubstep is a global, broadsheet darling, saviour of british electronic music. If respective DJs want to control things for the scene's benefit, then they have that right and fans should respect that.

Is that Blackdown or Ammunition speaking? Either way it's the most pretentious thing I've heard said in relation to dubstep in a long time. This is a dance, not a John Cage performance. Sorry if that sounds like cultural elitism but I've always understood dubstep as being largely music for the people, hence people expressing themselves on this forum and helping promote the scene by taking photos and posting mixes online.

Ok, if you've got some annoying semi-pro documentary makers getting in the way of the dj s and and the crowd with some big ass cameras then of course the promoters should have the authority to ask them to stop if they haven't got permission to be there first. But as for the kids taking a few low ropey quality snaps of their mates having a laugh, that's different altogether.

I think the main reason for most of the bad feeling on this thread is that this kind of policy suddenly introduced makes people feel a bit insulted (even cheated?) by people at the heart of the scene they have helped to grow.

If ammunition wants to preserve the 'sacredness of the live moment', maybe they should sell just a limited number of tickets in advance, provide chairs and ask the crowd to sit quietly while n-type pulls up cockney thug 4 times shouting 'wheelie-dealie, brock wide!'

Btw, no offence intended to n-type, whose impromptu mc-ing at dubcamp was pure sickness.
