Have you got the 'snap' setting on? (It helps to keep things tight.)
Also, make sure your snapping grid is set to something like 1/4 or 1/2, that way, you can't accidently offset the automation by 1/64th of a bar.....
Another way off doing this is to select the area you want to copy, group it by pressing Ctr/Apple-G, then copy & pasting it with Ctr-C/Ctr-V...

yep time signatures 4/4.
also its not only whilst copy and pasting, if i drag the block out from it original position the same thing happens.

Quantise the first & last note in the group/block. Make sure that the two midi notes don't exceed the length of the bar as this will cause the block colours to change when you copy & paste them.

futures_untold wrote:Which version are you using?
In v3 and below, you can use the selection tool directly on the automation data to select the area you want to copy. I know with the snap on it is possible to get precise cuts/copies of the automation you wish to copy. I zoom right in so I can see there is no overlap of the beginning of my selection, both when I initially select the area and when I paste it again....
In R4, this really shouldn't be a problem as it has vector automation data ffs!
I'm running out of ideas tbh. I have found in the past that the first block is sometimes a different colour to the rest of the blocks on a track, even when the contain exactly the same colour. The way you'd know if this was the case is if every consecutive block you pasted was the same colour from the second block onwards......

baz1manor wrote:ez man, im a long reason user and i have just come across the same exact problem, i have a section of a bass that i "wobbled" using malstrom, i automated about 32 bars of the rate knob, the clip wasnt fully quantized but the vectors fell where i need them too. the problem came like you said when i copied this automation clip to another part of the tune with snap on "bar" and it was all out of sync - check it out here -

the 1st part comes in at 1:50 and the second part at 3:40.
id love to help you out man, if i find a solution i will come bk for sure. never had this prob with reason before.

Does the problem happen in every project or just one?

Not that tedious really tho. You can copy all instruments and all automation etc to a new project.
(tip you can hold down I think ctrl and click on each instrument in Reason to copy the lot)

Although normally I'd agree, copying and pasting everything may potentially miss getting to the root of the problem...
