Ok well ideally we need to reach a decision on who the top of the pryamid is.

then money can start getting involved and we can see who's serious about this

It's pretty obvious who is serious about doing the leg work, at this point... they've posted here, and have already been making suggestions...

I shouldn't be, nor do I want to be, the top of the pyramid. I can handle some of the stateside promotion and handling of merch, etc... the word will be out.

I really like "Pressing Issues Recordings" It sounds very professional, and definately is a name I can get behind. All we need to do is make it official.

After that, we need to know what we are pressing. I think it is more important to know what we are pressing BEFORE we have the money to press it, mainly because once people hear the tracks that we're getting ready to put out, simple response from us alone will cause money to come in, or not come in... that will gauge how popular our picks really are...

If we are doing this, lets do it... 250 records for each side of the pond... shipping of 250 records to the states or to the UK should be figured into the budget for every release.

Someone take charge and I will fall in line behind you if your motives are right. If you aren't FOR pushing this vinyl in the states as well, I won't be with you...

PRE pressing and signing, I have money to offer.
POST pressing and signing, I have promotions and actual handling of the stateside package to offer.

I don't want to handle money, anything legal, etc... when it comes down to Stateside taxes, I have a very close friend who is a professor of tax law, and is a Tax Attorney who may guide us on OUR side here...

someone step up

perhaps since this is an effort that will span the US and the UK, there should be two heads, one from the US, one from the UK. That way, there is hopefully a minimized chance of "country bias" (or at the very least, the perception of it) - and there isn't ONE sole person responsible. This can prove difficult yes, but I know I would personally feel more comfortable giving support to two people rather than one in this situation.

I am going to try and sort out duties in the 'positions' thread, edit the top post to sort out who wanted to do what according to the listed position.

hey folks,

I run basecamp for my consulting business. It's a web-based project management tool. It's got Messaging, To Do Lists, File upload (limited space) and Milestones. All can be assigned to people.

If you want I can hook you up with a project space that is central... Just monitoring the board it looks like this could get out of control quickly.

Let me know if you would like me to do this. If so, I will need peoples' names and emails to set up the accounts.

I'm not a scrub - Lexxus, Joe and Kozee can vouch for me.

Cheers, Miro

oh I should also say that I used to own an indie rock label about ten years ago and am a newly converted dubstepper - I'm one of those old school junglists who's semi-jumped ship that y'all are talking aboot.

hey CEDE you want to roll with it? or you want me to help out? The only benefit of the paid account is file storage though it's limited on their base pay account.

The free one might be fine for this unless you will want to have your releases be separate projects from the label.

let me know

the actual WORK of the label shouldn't be aired publicly at all... no need for that... when it comes to the networking and setup, after we get a name, pretty much the only thing that needs to be public is the voting and feedback on which tunes should be signed :D
