New interface on the samplers and operator are much better
THe new algorhythm choices on the sampler are ace
The vocoder is great fun (LAlala Im a robot and so on)
All the new mastering tools are most welcome
Latin Percussion is a crystal clear sound set for percussion
I could go on ... theres lots more once you get under the hood.

Not to mention the promise of live sharing across the net very soon ... oh and max for live too!

Your forgetting my fav! The abbility to group channels instead of routing them! Save's interface space (less visual clutter & easier to know wich instrument you are choosing) and is easier when wanting to apply effects to a group.

@Eops: I get what you mean, but to be honest, everything new that it offers, you can get in a dedicated vst.

Ive been using live for about 3/4 years now & when i got 8 soon after it came out, i was just dissapointed.
Ive used it for a fair few weeks & it could just be my production style, but i dont really use any of its new features.

and ive tried EVERYTHING on the ableton forums to get the compatibility working between 7 & 8 but alas.

Now the one thing it can redeem itself of on is the web sharing thing, completely forgot about that. That looks very promising!

Sorry to hear you are having problems - that would take the shine off - I had trouble till I ditched my seven config and its been sweet since.

Hey all, I've been messing around on Ableton for a while, but still not sure how to make a 'dirty' sound for bass and wobbles. Do you have to use Operator?

maybe a stupid question but i can't seem to find a tutorial of the eq eight effect... anybody knows a place were they explain this? coz all the tutorials i find explain eq, but they're all difrent from the eq eight

Operator can make good dutty wobbles - get a sub playing set the lfo to the cut off and so on - you need to dirty it up tho - bit crush/vinyl distortion/reverb/compression etc

easy - just experiment

read the bass wobble guide thread and then try and do the same stuff in operator - its not NI Massive but thats a good thing really

Native Instruments Massive is an extensive synth plugin with loads of routing possibilities

basically any synth will do, you just got to mess with the LFO, filters, envelopes (attack decay sustain release). if you have Analog for ableton thats probably better than operator just make sure you go to the AMP tab and turn up the sustain and turn down the release.

then you could throw the auto filter on and go to the sync setting with phase set to 0 degrees. then automate between synced rate settings in the arrange mode.

and also.....go to the dubstep production bible

Anyone know if there's any way of tying a tempo change to a clip, IE, so I could launch a clip and it would play at the tempo that the particular clip is warped to? Trying to cobble together a mix at the moment with lots of different tempos in it and looking for something a bit easier then setting scene launch tempo and having to drop everything in the right row.

is there any way i can set automation for a clip, so i could have 2 clips containing the same midi/audio but triggering it with different automation in the same track? cheers guys, everything thats been posted so far has been really helpful!
