Sorry man;
Groups/Sends are typically used when you want a mix of the original and the effect (reverbs, delays) and inserts are generally used when you want to completely affect the result (compressors/eqs etc).
Nothings set in stone, my mate insists on using reverbs as inserts, and changes using the wet/dry parameter. Similarly, theres a style of compression called new york compression where the compressor is used on a send, typically hammered, and mixed in with the original.
The specifics of setting up groups as sends is detailed in maccs tutorials.
Janner wrote:anyone know if there is a way to do a "one-button project-compile-and-save" in SX?
by way of explanation: atm when i work on a collab proj i create stems of each individual channel before any studio transfer. normal practice right? but obv the disadvantage of this is that you sacrifice your ability to edit sounds created in say VSTi which were running real time, pre-bounce
what i want to know is... assuming of course that you are working 100% ITB is there a way to instruct cubase to deposite all of the constitents of your track (all source sounds, VSTi settings, sampler drum kits, woteva) into a single folder or your specification?
main benefit would be if you were working with someone with an identical setup you could simply perform the project dump described above, RAR the resulting folder, and ftp it to your creative partner who would unRAR, open with cubase, and instantly access the exact same proj that you were looking at on your machine, with all the same live editability. this process would be mirrored when the track is returned to you.
does this function exist? perhaps in a post-SX version of cubase? or is this blatent wishful thinking

I was wondering this as well.. seeing as half my samples are located on my HD and it's a pain having to hook it up all the time.

Yah pretty much every solution they offer involves reinstalling Cubase or formatting your shit.

I used to have to rewire Reason 4 to Cubase to play my drum parts on my songs which was a fucking hassle, cause I personally dislike the way the effects sound on Reason, so being able to drag and drop samples into GAO, route each type of sound (bass drum, snare, cymbals etc...) to seperate outputs and effect them in groups is AWESOME.
As well as this REVerence is such a good reverb as well... So varied, and it just makes me smile every time I use it...

Well, if you have GAO loaded up, you should just press F11 and bring up the VSTi Window... From there, you should be able to see on the left hand side by the MIDI Note In light a little grey object, if you click that you can turn on/off multiple outputsAnd after that, you simply go into GAO, select the sample you want to change the output of and then turn the dial in the "Play" tab that says "Output" on (it's the far right one on the left side of the VSTi
You should be able to see the other outputs when you open up the Groove Agent ONE in the VST Instruments folder... Hope that helps!
