You don't have to... go to Zones -> Load multiple samples

^ change it in the transport bar. it'll tell you that you're in 4/4, and the grid is 1/16... change that to 1/12 or 1/6 for 8th or quarter-note triplets.

this thread is gonna help so much...

quick noob question, why does it matter what order your effects are in? is it like on a guitar amp your gonna want your loop station first then reverb pedal then wah wah pedal type deal, where the order you put them in effects the sound quality of each effect and makes them sound better?

wobbles in logic

Postby macgregor » Wed Jun 17, 2009 7:16 am

i know this should be in the "wobbles" section, but i couldn't find anything on it. why is it that when i use autofilter the wobbles are never on beat, even though the synth notes are. is that not the best filter? should i be doing something else. please pardon my noobery...

well, (here's an extreme and stupid example but still) let's say you're sending your sub to a buss that has some distortion/overdrive on it. now you'll want to EQ out the bottom end eventually, so that it doesn't clash with the main sub channel. but you should have the EQ after the distortion plugin, so you still get the crunchy toppiness. If you have the EQ before the distortion, you're taking away the bottom end from a signal that is pure bottom end - there'll be nothing going into the distortion unit!

make sense? :)

Have you set the rate to be in sync with the tempo? There should be a dial at the bottom left that will either change the speed of the filtering by either frequency or by divisions of the tempo i.e 1/4, 1/8, 1/8t (triplets)...

i've had odd problems with the autofilter as well, and infact its not even a very nice sounding filter. try using the lfos on the synths to control the cutoff instead. easiest ones are es1 and es2 because they have syncable lfos.

a few ways
alt>drag the region x amount of times
or
options>track automation>move automation data to region
then cmd>R to copy your desired amount
there are possibly more as well

Can anyone link me to a tutorial, video or otherwise, for use of the time machine?

Is there anyway you can snap the regions in the arrange window to the grid ?

are you talking about audio or midi regions? midi regions will snap to the grid automatically. if you want to do that with audio regions you have to go into the time / pitch machine...

I have a follow up to my question about repeating regions along with the automation... is there a way to freeze the automation? because i'm always clicking on the midi region with the automation data on it and moving the dots, it's really annoying!

spectral gate was my......go to.......back when I used Logic. "Go to" for what? Well.....I don't know how to explain it with any real expertise.....but it does some next level shit with frequencies. Like with bass, it I'll add some energy to that. Or it'll do the same with highs. Or with vocals, it'll split that into some next frequencies, add some serious effect on it. I can't really explain it properly LOL. But it was my "go to" whenever I wanted to do something trippy with whatever sound I was using it for. I want to say it's a very advanced EQ, but I don't know if that's at all accurate/the right term for it at all. I was using it more randomly, whatever sounded good to the ear after random fiddling around, I would use.

It's really crazy though. I miss Logic
