Thoughts on flux pavilion?

Post by prohjecktom » Sat Mar 26, 2011 8:39 am

ok, so it seems to me that flux pavilion has a certain "marmite" quality to him, (love it or hate it).
i personally like some of his stuff.
but apparently he grew most of his scene on DubstepForum, having seen the pure hatred for skrillex i would have thought that flux's sometimes headachy music would have been met with alot of hating on this forum, and yet he still has a (i think) successful record lable?

For a split second, reading the title, I thought this would be about Flux...

Older stuff>Newer stuff

He is one of the better 'filth' producers, along with Funtcase. However, not overly feeling his newer productions. Needs to re-visit stuff like Meathead.

Flux Pavilion is doing well, fair play to him.

Music might not be everyones taste but he definitely has a bigger audience than you.

I think hes the most talented of the 'jump up' lot. He has lots of fans and by far the most popular of his 'sub-genre' and the Circus label. I don't know why but i get the impression he is a basically a huge nerd and thats exactly why he knows what hes doing when it comes to the music hes making

Seen him live before today and he knows what he's doing on the decks imo as well. If i look back over the past 6 months he's the one that springs out of my mind of all the 'bro-steppy' artists i've seen with the most talent. Datsik was horrific and i actually went home about 1/3 way through his set. When we saw Flux Pavilion it was surprisingly a good vibe. Wasn't any mosh pits or anything.. must of been a rare occassion.

arn't all producers huge nerds? seems like it comes with the territory. and yea I know he has a bigger audience, your point, those screaching synths that the circus people use still dont sound good to me, even though I will admit some of the tunes are fantastic. and are you kidding when I saw datsik at shambhala he was rockin it hard!

thats the thing though isnt it...making music thats thoughtful and original always fails to get as popular as stuff designed to appeal to students gettin wasted

Eventually you come to accept that what you do, isn't what every body wants.

Saddest fact of life right there.

If people were gasping for popularity, then they'd change their path - but the reason why some people don't is because they have a duty.

Cracks remix is an absolute tune

But yeh I dislike the style of bass music the majority of his songs would be classified as.
NOT ENOUGH SUB BASS
epochalypso wrote: Hardout, mix a whole set of coki 128kbs bangers on cdjs while using the guy the played before you's headies, and have wet tshirt competitions during the breakdowns.. and stage dive everytime you pull a reload.

i like his stuff. not all of it, but some of the tunes, yes... his tunes sound the most musical to me, off the circus crew, i mean he can write pretty sick melodies

but i have to agree with the guy above me... not enough sub, for example haunt you. The tune would be aboslutely sick with a fair amount of weight, but instead there are cymbals and lots of high end shit al over the tune and that ruins it (and the piano on the breakdown isn´t that good on the released version)

but yeah, i like him... Normalize/Meathead are pretty sick

Prefer his older tunes to what hes doing now, but he's still a big producer, man has talent

yea I agree Bass Cannon is novelty garbage, some of Flux's older stuff I like and I Like I Cant Stop even though over played.

Calypso and Boom are the shit, I still love those tunes, Its a shame Excision & Datsik just stuck to the same sound they got popular on instead of trying to evolve.
