more info on EX7

With so much attention from club land and the media alike, Excision thought it was time to start a new imprint, geared to release the very biggest of the tracks in his record box. Teaming up with Infectious PR who will be managing and promoting the label on his behalf, Excision is ready to kick off EX7 (pronounced Ex-Seven, for those not in the know) with a pair of downright bangers.

‘Yin Yang’ featuring DZ is straight up LFO based dubstep at it’s finest. Featuring an ambient intro that lulls you into a false sense of security before smacking you round the face with a bassline so big it could be seen from space (that’s a ridiculous thing to say, don’t think we don’t know how ludicrous our own press releases sound). This track is also rumoured to appear on Kosta Elcher, Plastician and Snoop Dogg’s forthcoming ‘Dubstep LA’ mixtape.

Flip over and ‘Obvious’ takes a surprisingly less obvious approach than you might think. Drawing out electro influences and blending them expertly with Excision’s unique hard-hitting style ‘Obvious’ is packed with energy for the dance floor but with plenty to keep you interested at home. Anyone who likes to mix up electro with dubstep should be slipping this into their sets.

Sickman - Unfortuanely I don't get the option to spin dubstep on Dark Wax, currently thinking about doing another show, with a more electic music policy 8)

Yeah, the site (and radio station) is pretty slick and well run.

Not a lot of people stick to their guns and have a dedicated music policy. Most of the jump-up D&B that comes out nowadays really grates me, being all shrill synths and tacky, monotone rhythms

The dark/techy/atmospheric stuff really does it for me! :D

Heyhaa, I dont recall that conversation Sickman mate?
I myself spin many styles of music, about 15 different styles in all including Dubstep :C: With regards to the stations music policy, I wanted to create a place where people could hear dark dnb at any time. At the time (2006) Dark DnB wasnt getting as much exposure as the other subgenres of dnb. Im sorry you felt the stations music policy was narrow minded and my intention is never to restrict anyone artistically, wouldnt dream of it. But Im sure you will appreciate when creating a brand or setting up a business the vision has to remain clear & not become 'watered down' whilst still in the pocess of establishing that brand. Most of our DJ's eat, sleep & breathe dark dnb as so do our listeners. The continuing success of the station is due to everyones dedication to giving dark dnb more exposure. :)
