I asked this in another forum and got some interesting replies, but you lot are the ones that really matter (aw):
How do you feel about the idea of dubstep afterhours...
aka squat... parties?! Because we're doing one... N-Type/Loefah/Kode9, Friday March 30.
http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=15380
Just curious what the reaction is going to be to dubstep squat parties... whether the dubstep scene would be interested in the idea. Our parties are nice, good vibes, good crowd, no trouble, so when I'm feeling in a different mood I might call them afterhours parties to avoid the impressions people might have of squat parties. This one will definitely be nice, and something different. And I have to tell Loefah he can bring Vinton! Can't do that in a club.
Discuss.

I totally support this!!!
In fact I´ve already played dubstep in "squat" or on free open air parties. Reaction was different, but I´ve always felt that dubstep has its place on these events.
Thumbs up for this!!!

About 18 months ago we (Ruffnek Diskotek) put on a free party in Bristol and had Pinch come down to drop some dubs.
We were chuffed as it was the first time dubstep had been played at a free party in Bristol (to our knowledge anyways). It's getting played more & more in these underground circles now which is very encouraging.
Dubstep can be free party music! It doesn't all have to be 180bpm+ madness for the free party munters to enjoy it

Used to go bare squat parties, in london and around brighton when i lived there... love the vibe, as long as there's not too much acid trance and k'd up twats!
No security, no bullshit, just people coming together to share the love of beats and bass...

Brighton's still big on K'd up twats unfortunately - not the best of social events
Me: So how you doing?
K-head: Mwurmn...ooff..maspen...bwah (stares with rolling eyes at wall)...mahwoof..baaah
Me: That's nice dear
Thankfully most of the acid trance is too far away to bother with. Still at least we don't have crackheads on the rob, so it could be worse
Hmm....

You know it! I'm trying to book in a wake-up morning jungle set after the headliners... fingers crossed.
Glad people are feelin this. Yea, the squat/free party scene has slowly been getting into the dubstep, its been promising. I want all the dubstep massive to come out n' school the newbies about the tunes!

I know we'll have a few new dubstep addicts after this one. You don't know dubstep til you've been to a proper party...

I have played dubstep sets at a number of outdoor parties. Threw a good dubstep and jungle party practically in the back garden of the Prime Ministers country residence a couple of years ago. Plod turned up en masse...
Randomly met Appleblim and Necta Selecta whilst playing a dubstep set at an outdoor party in Cornwall.
Will def be up for checking this party out!
