There's loads of great releases on Beatport, the problem is because of the accessibility of Dubstep, the good releases are flooded with cheesy tracks. It's just a matter of looking hard enough.

Easy on the name-calling, chief. There's never a place for that.

And by the way, the dude jumping around on the stage and living out his psychosexual rockstar fantasy is called 12th Planet. You may have heard of him.

Nevertheless, I commend you for applying the advice "If you're gonna fail, fail big".
if you look like that, you will get called names by people who know no other way to elevate themselves above others
No argument there, boss.

Just sign up to beatport, and in three clicks, you're a globally respected artist. Doesn't matter that your tunes are badly mastered and generic...doesn't matter that your net label has no concept...doesn't matter that you didn't take the time to build your production skills....because guess what fellas we're beatport.....we'll fucking sell anything! We'll overbrand the fuck out of your tunes and for another dollar, you can get steak fries and free cookies!

I can't speak for the vast majority of shit on beatport because it's too expensive for a man of my means, but I've never heard anything that wasn't mastered or received anything on there that was any worse than another site. If anything it might be a badly encoded file, which can happen anywhere. I think maybe you're thinking of Digital Tunes or something like that where you can just sign up and post your shit. Beatport has a rather rigorously guarded policy in terms of accepting new artists, or even new releases by current artists. And they have pretty stupid sales quotas for your average shit.

I would agree that most of the shit coming out is garbage quality shit, but no worse than any other period in the history of dubstep. There's more, so by definition more will be shit.

*edit. since posting this (only mere minutes ago), one of the more commercial 'dance' radio stations in NZ was playing the skrillex remix of 'in for the kill'.

it was the worst 5 minutes of my life.... i couldnt change the station either because i was stuck at work :u:

Bunch of whiners. Suck it up.

I grew up in an area where it was ALL HOUSE, ALL ELECTRO, ALL TECHNO every where.
Our DNB crew had to fight tooth and nail to get any decent run-down bar to open its door for us.

These are the glory days (i know its been tipping over to the "god all these hippers have founds us").

SO WHAT if our flying lotus shows are over runned by hipters. At least they are being attended by more then 100 ppl.
And now ppl who like bass heavy beats can make a decent career for themselfs....

Remember when only techno and trance DJs could do this??? Even the best DNB producers were only getting by.

Now look at the big guns in Dubstep.... They've got a chance, and the many other who follow behind, whether its deep dubstep, rolling dubstep, 8bit dubstep, "brostep", metal-step. WE ALL WIN.

so, suck it up. enjoy it while its gonna last.

EZ-PZ whiney bitches.

Construct.

(PS> some ppls appeal to the sound is the heavy aspect, cause they LOVE metal... now is that so bad? You like fluff, go trance about.)

I love it how a thread about one particular artist being shite devolves into two sides generalising the others positions. Thinking that Skrillex sucks in no way constitutes lamenting dubstep's current popularity. lrn2read.

p.s. cool fucking story bro'z! 8)

That being said, I can't stand it. Complete cheese.
I agree 100%. Just saw him live in Chicago last Saturday night. He was a big hit, and everyone who hadn't heard his music before loved him.

The first time I heard the tracks in the EP (about a month ago), I was impressed and thought it was kind of cool. The second time I heard it, I didn't care for it much at all.

These tracks are like the tip of a match, they will spark up and burn bright and hot for a while, but since they don't really have much replay value, they will fissile out pretty quickly.

However, now Skrillex will probably continue to put out his sound and flood the world with this nonsense. Oh well, I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. Hopefully this new turn of events will quicken the pace in which Bro-step fades and quality Bass returns.
