Does Coki still play only dubplates?
Does Coki still play only dubplates?
Getting to see him for the first time next saturday and can not wait!
wondering if he's still a strictly dubplate guy or if he's gone the CD route?
(like so many others...)

Everytime I've seen him it's been vinyl/dubplate.

There's a pic of him using CDJ's if I recall, which sort of puzzled me a little :/
Edit : No sorry that was fucking Benga.

I found a way to get piece of mind for years and left the hell alone, turn a deaf ear to the cellular phone

When he played at GetDarker he was still using them.

Pretty sure I've seen both too. Every time I've seen Mala it's been plates, and together as well.
Re: Does Coki still play only dubplates?
He's playing out here soon (San Francisco) - hopefully he'll smash it as usual.

Not that many will care but i decided to start using CDJ's and vinyls. As much as i love my acetate dubplate's recent events has made we realize that they don't cater for us anymore.
: And no sound checking does not help before the next DJ! - Coki via facebook.

Re: Does Coki still play only dubplates?
Its sad to see DJs who want to DJ vinyl being forced to DJ CDs because the venues/organisers don't carter for vinyl DJs anymore. Turntables in venues now are just really expensive things to place CD wallets/phone ect. on.
What I don't like is the fact that this music is, for the most part, sound system music. I always thought vinyl and sound systems went hand in hand.. I guess not anymore

Yeah this is crap. How is it too much to maintain a pair of 1200's at each good venue?

This is a three way street (keeping 1200's on hand)
- if you own/book the venue, it's nice to be able to offer the choice to your performers;
- if you're a performer, make sure NOT to spill beer, ash on, or in any other way damage the decks (a common problem according to bookers I know.)
- Finally, if you're paying to see a performer in a venue, be sure to A) let them know that you appreciate the vinyl, and B) don't bump the decks, set shit on them, etc.

also:
the decks are not a resting place for your cd wallet.
i dont put my record case on your cdj so i expect you to treat the decks the same.
